If i drove for you i would honestly not care about your personal problems of running a business; As a driver i care about what i make in the end, so if i was on a 1099 then gross pay would have to be higher to compensate, if u offered no insurance and another comany does i would expect my gross pay to reflect that also so i can buy my own. Its not the drivers fault you cannot hire him as an employee and that you offer no insurance, disability/workmans comp/life ins. that are standard, but u cannot expect for a contract driver to take less net pay because of how you run your business. Maybe if u made the driver a partner then you could expect otherwise.
