Someone is using my License number .. HELP

I'm at loss of what to do and where to turn. Two weeks I went to our local store - Sally's - and when I went to pay for my items, my check was turned down. Now these people there know me but refused my check because it showed up in their computer as a bad check. They gave me the number to call to get this cleared up. ..... So I called and talked to them explaining what had happend. They told me to fax them a copy of my License - which will show that I'm not the person who claims to be me ... which I did do. I also when to our Police department and talked to an investigater ... they ran my license and it doesn't appear that the man using my license is in Oklahoma ... .............. The other person using my license goes by the name .... Bryan Palmer ... I have no clue how he got my license number ..... the only place I've given it out is to a few trucking companys applying on line a long time ago.

Does anyone know how I can get this person caught ? .... Do I need to contact DOT and ask them if they could help. Because I have no idea if this man is using it as a CDL or regular license.

This is so stressful .... HELP PLEASE ....

For4roses, sorry to hear about this! Have you asked DMV if you can turn in your license to get a new number issued? I know it would be a PITA but at least it would come up clean starting that date...just make sure to ask for a copy of your mvr of your old number. Then they could cancel that number and hopefully catch this guy!

I worked in insurance for 10 years before going into trucking and I had a customer that had this happen to them. They didnt have a CDL though. The female that stole her identity still hasnt been caught after 6 years. She had to change her social security #and bank account along with a few other things. It was a real pain but she changed everything ASAP to stop further problems.

BOL to you and let us know if they catch this guy!

I am sorry to hear about your license, 4roses. Did this guy have the same number but in a different state, or did he use your number and same state? I briefly had one of my checks refused on time several years ago. It was at a place that knew me and when they checked found that someone who had passed bad checks had my account number but with a different bank. I had a problem a couple of times around that time, but the guy didn't have my personal information. I think someone just put in the wrong information. It was lucky that these people knew me and took the extra steps to check their files. Otherwise, I might not have been able to continue writing checks to them. I hope you can get this straightened out quickly and that they catch this creep.

I notice a lot of disjoint continuations of applications that ask license numbers, social security, and birth date on web (especially from the same 'cheesey' trucking companies that use DAC reports to enslave drivers). Its so smooth, continued from a legitimate site, you don't know its even changed. But when I see those questions on the web, whether the securty lock is on or not, I know to shut it down, and wash my cookies.

That's just a sideline profit center: illegal alien id's. And it could be done from anywhere in the world and sold to border smuglers. When the US Attourney General is the child of illegal aliens, you know nothing is going to be done about it in this Administration anyway.

Think defensively!

GMAN ... Did this guy have the same number but in a different state,

Yep ... he's in a different state ... the police dept here ran my card ... and my name only is on my license here ... I'm going to talk to the tag agency tomorrow and see how much trouble it's going to be to get my license number changed. Dang ... to think of all the places that I will have to get this information to

Sorry to hear about your problem, alot of shippers and recievers want to see your licence and they sometimes make coppies of it or write the number down someone could have got it that way. When I have to sign in at a customer and they want my licence number written down I will allways put a fake number down, but if they want to see it and they write it down I allways ask who sees this sheet, have you shown your licence at a shipper or reciever lately? Good luck.

Years ago I was overseas with a guy that got arrested for Income Tax problems and failure to pay tickets even though he had been in Okinawa Japan for 4 years which was the time period for all the troubles. Turns out there was some kind of glitch with Social Security Card numbers in several states and there were many duplicate numbers handed out to different people.

By chance is your drivers licence number the same as your social security number?
