Default How hard is it to find local truck driving jobs vs long haul?

Noob question, but how hard is it to find local truck driving jobs? I'm thinking getting my CDL but the lifestyle of an OTR driver living on the road doesn't really appeal to me. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Depends on your area and what type of driving you want to do locally. Do you want to drive dump trucks, garbage trucks, freight haulers doing regional/local, fuel hauling, etc....? For some areas, the only option is OTR. Check your local classified section and see what is available under the Driving section.

I got lucky and got a local job right out of truck driving school, making $50,000. But it's rare. I looked forever before I found it. It was linehaul. Typical day was leave at 3 PM, get back 4 AM.
