There's one guy I've met. No, he's not trying to get behind the wheel of a truck. But, with his prison record, the only guy that will hire him is GOD. He's a minister. Back in the '70s, he was known as "Nick the Greek". Give him credit, though. He has straightened out his act. And, not doing bad as a minister either. Decent guy to talk to.

Maybe because they were busy doing whatever they were doing, not thinking how your consequences will cause problems years (and decades) later in life.

Perfect example of how people can change. And how God can change people.

I think there is a difference between repeat offenders who are always in trouble and an 18 year old who doesnt know any better. An 18yo is still just a stupid kid basically. 30 years ago plenty of "stupid" kids did stupid things and didnt pay for it for the rest of their life. Now a dui and a posession charge at 18-19 years old will eliminate you from better than 50% of the jobs in this country, including enlistment in the armed forces.

Not to change the subject to ministers, but wasn't Sam Kinison a minister before his comedy career? Sometimes people go the other way...

Snowman is right. Kids are kids. I was one. I remember when I was 17-20. I did some dumb things. I still do dumb things, but they are honest dumb things. Mistakes.
When you get older, you grow out of it, and wise up. Or atleast, that's the way it should be.

The OP said he was 28. His last arrest was last year. Plus the resisting. Plus the speeding. Plus the running the red light. Plus whatever else he had. It wasn't 10 years ago, it was 6 months.

The OP is 25 but it doesnt matter because your right he is showing a repeating pattern. I wasnt defending him I was just saying in general. There rules are stricter today for a young stupid kid then they were when I was a young stupid kid.

And yet, it seems like kids are getting even more stupid and staying that way longer.

You sound like every driver that called me last week looking for a job. I couldnt get anyone good on the phone...crappy week.
Seriously. Right now truck driving isnt really for you. You might be able to find some outlaw company to hire you. But they are going to know they are your only option, so they will pay you poorly, and make you do **** like run illegal. Stay clean, dont break anymore laws...and come back out here 10 years after your last probation date, and maybe I can find something for you.

However, I did think of an option for him. Go buy a truck, get your own authority, get all the insurance and I will get you plenty of freight to haul.

I'm not sure just how real or wide-spread it is. I talked to an O'/P about a year and a half ago that said after Jan 1 of this year, the insurance company would not allow him to drive one of his own trucks. 2 DUIs something like 18 years earlier. Buying a truck and getting your own authority is fine, but you still have to convince an insurance company to cover you. They seem to be getting a bit picky lately. Five years ago, it was 3 years after a DUI. Then, it was seven. What is it today? Ten years? Or no DUI ever? And, if you do have a DUI, what's your coverage going to cost you?
