Now, on the west side of the "Choochoo", they'll re-post the speed limit for trucks at 40, or 35. He had time to straighten out after the curve. Must have tried to dodge something...

Been through there many, many times. I remember when the speed limit was the same for trucks and cars.

And, no snow. But, how about ice?

it was yesterday ( sat) a beautiful
dry, sunny day, speed seemed to be the only factor, if you notice, he was going east and went through the guard rail and rolled it on the west bound side

I don't know what could have happened unless he fell asleep. It is level and no sharp turns where he wrecked. There were some really unhappy people sitting on the roadway. That happened around Moccasin Bend on I-24.

there is a big curve there, that's why it's called moccasin "bend" the officer stated that the driver was trying to negotiate the curve and lost control

From the picture it looked as though it happened before he got to the curve. In any case, unless he fell asleep he had to be really flying to have crossed the median through the steel barrier and land on his side, even if it did happen in the curve. It is called Moccasin bend because it is shaped like a moccasin.

Didn't notice the guard rail when I first looked at the pic. I thought he was going westbound.

I have seen (more than once) when a truck is in the left lane of that stretch of road, another truck swing into the left lane and very nearly cause that same thing. Have to wonder if that is what happened there. Driver #1 is in the left lane, making time. Driver #2 swings out to pass driver #3 while the steers of #1 are alongside his trailer, and #1 is forced to hit the brakes hard. The article doesn't say that's what happened, but I've seen it more times than I'd care to count. Driver #2 doesn't check his mirrors before changing lanes.

he lost it on the curve before the one in the picture
from just before where I-59 comes in on into Chattanooga, it is a series of curves, the witnesses said he was just going too fast, he should thank God he didnt kill anyone, the west bounders must have been on their toes that day

That's just it. The "BAD" curve is the one he didn't get to. The ones before that are not nearly as bad as the one in the picture, when you're going eastbound. He had to be really flying to lose it because of speed. I know what the posted speed limit is from the point where you cross back out of GA into TN, and I've seen more than one truck take them all at 70 or better, without a problem. The one he didn't get to has been taken at 65, but it's the one you need to slow down for, if you're going to slow down for any of them. Until you get to the one going to the right further east, into town. And, I've been passed on that one when I was doing 55. No one lost it. There had to be another factor we have not heard about.

None of those curves are that bad. The curve at Moccasin Bend is a couple of miles or so from where I-59 comes in to I-24. It will be interesting to hear the entire story.

Back before the speed limits for trucks was posted down in that area, I used to go through there at 65 and 70. Unless I was pulling a box with a load that I knew might be able to shift. Never came close to having any problem. One load that had long rolls of paper standing on end, down the middle of the trailer (which is now illegal) had me slowing down to 45 for the curves. But, generally, it was traffic that was holding me back.

What I have seen a number of times is a driver that does not check his mirror and swings out to pass someone in front of him. If this driver was coming alongside another truck that swung into the left lane to pass, where was he going to go?

With the number of times I've been through there, and the things I've seen happen there, I am not going to be quite so quick to condemn this driver for losing it. As I stated before, there had to be something we do not know about.

Combine those curves with another driver's misdeeds, and it becomes a deadly combination.
