    Default Companies in stlouis mo??

    HI

I'll be getting my cdl soon. Can anyone recommend a good company preferrably a private company that does alot of business here in Stlouis mo. Ive contacted some of the bigger companies like KLLM and Crete but theyre only looking for drivers that stay out 14+ days.

    thanks

Most carriers will want you to stay out about 2-3 weeks, especially starting out. The most important thing you need do at this point is to gain some solid experience. Once you have a year or two behind you it will be much easier to find what you want. You should understand that it is difficult for most carriers to guarantee that you will home every week. Rates are low and freight is down. Until that changes carriers will likely want drivers to keep deadhead miles lower and stay out longer. Once you gain some experience you may find it easier to find exactly what you are seeking.

Look around and you'll find something in St Louis. Dino's is one that comes to mind. There are plenty of small carriers that haul containers in STL. One of them might give you a shot. The equipment might not be the newest and nicest, but it'll be experience.

You might look just across the river too-- Schneider National has a terminal in Edwardsville, IL and are a solid "training company" .
