I have picked up in Angels Camp coming out of Stockton. I don't think I would recommend this highway but it is scenic. I also do not think that all of 49 is a truck route.

We're 65 ft, so it's technically OK..........but that doesn't make it intelligent. The more details that I hear about what this bozo did the less I understand.

I was on 49 last night - the same stretch you were on. I took 26 to 49 to get to Martell to load then north to hwy 16 to get to I5. A few tight turns & hard pulls, but no big deal. But it wasn't snowing either.

I asked our mechanic today; why, with all the people we have applying to work here, is it so hard to find good drivers?

His reply- "Why do all our curtain vans have tarp hooks?"

Oh, ok. 65 feet is a different story. Still I agree with you that just because you are legal for a road does not mean you should be on it. Tight turns and pulls are part of the job if you pick up in small towns. When I was running the west I picked up lumber and products in many small places in CA, OR, WA etc..and often took back roads for the scenery. In the SUMMER.
