I don't think that I would want to keep or even touch a pen that was laying in a parking lot, especially a truck stop parking lot. Just imagine all the urine it might have experienced while laying there to be discovered.![]()
There is no telling what you might pick up in those parking lots.
Flu season is in full swing not to mention H1N1. Bacteria lives on a surface and a virus lives within a host.
So things we all touch like phones, door handles etc.... all should be cleaned within reason to kill bacteria if you, your family or a co worker is infected. A pretty good rule is if it's wet and not yours, you need to protect yourself.
Here are few other nasty things that are pretty common:
MRSA infection - MayoClinic.com
Cellulitis - MayoClinic.com
We all cant live in a bubble so simple hand washing and cleanliness go a long way.
i collect parker duofolds, ever since i had a cheap big red in the 70's.![]()
i justify the expensive hobby by using the theory that the more expensive the pen, the less chance i am willing to let any one "borrow" it for any reason, cutting my chances of picking up whatever that other driver/shipper/receiver/guard has on his hands.
the other advantage of buying a "good" pen is that you take care of them, not losing them, or giving them away. by keeping track of them, you get more uses for the dollars spent, resulting in value. i used a blue marbled ballpoint everyday for a little over 20 years before switching to a green rollerball.
for the OP i'd recommend a TUL
get yourself a medium, gel retractable.
did i really just read two pages about pens???
Keep on rockin'
Can you believe it's had 481 views???? Atleast i'm not the only one asking myself WHY..........

Its almost 2010 and we are still using pen and paper for logbooks.... lol so Archaic. *Ok pipe in all you foil hat wearing Big brother worry rats*
But seriously America is living in the 50's while other Developing Countries are passing the U.S. by. We had our biggest growth spurt do to Eisenhower's expressed need for a mass transit system for the military which, btw intergrated and connected the cities and Voila Manufacturing Boom. Most of the countries roads have the same lanes..... ok off on tangentPens
Yes a Great pen well i prefer Gel pens and my personal favourite is the Uniball Jetstream found here Writes a fine line or thick depending on size and the comfort is unsurpassed. As with most Gel pens you put something on it just after and smudge city... if your careful and treat it nicely it will reward you for a long time to come.
*Edit OH wth my first post... YAaaaaH Celebrates *grabs beer and nachos*
I usually get a pack of 10 at the dollar tree for a buck.

Maybe not, if it was a GEL pen.
Okay, I'll admit to having been out of touch a little, not really "shopping" for pens much (more of the parking lot type)..... but, I never HEARD of a "gel" pen!![]()

Gel pens are the best I've ever had. Between my wife and I, we keep more around than you can shake a stick at. They write really smooth, and you don't have to worry about getting carpal tunnel syndrome from the ball-point pens.
I like those Zebra pens..
Sorry, but I STILL don't know what a gel pen is, so I googled it. From Wiki:
Well.... why didn't Y'all just SAY so??The main advantage of gel ink is its high viscosity, which supports a higher proportion of pigments in the medium. The pigments are typically copper phthalocyanine and iron oxides, and the gel is made up of water and biopolymers, such as xanthan gum and tragacanth gum, as well as some types of polyacrylate thickeners. The pigments are opaque, and gel pens are available in a rainbow of bright and pastel colours, as well as opalescent, metallic, and glittery colours which show up clearly on dark paper.
The only thing I recognized out of this whole paragraph is that, apparently it is now "legal" in English to combine two DIPTHONGS at the beginning of a word!
phthalocyanine? I'm pretty sure that was against the rules of English when "I" was in school!
Xanthan gum and tragacanth gum???
What happened to BUBBLE gum and a stick of Beechnut???
Stuff sounds like something from a Kurt Vonnegut novel!
I don't trust nothin' I can't spell or pronounce.
I used a rollerball once on a logsheet. Too thick and messy! I'll stick to ballpoints for now. I like a good rollerball for personal correspondence (like anyone does THAT anymore...) but as for gels? Well.... y'all DO realize that they can and should be banned from all airline flights, right?![]()

How funny.
Hobo, if I can't pronounce or read it, I don't trust it either. That's why I have such a hard time, trying to figure out what everyone on the news is talking about. They are always using big words.![]()
