Wrong again Hannity, i changed it because i'm more of a man (or less of a child) than Hawk. (and that is fairly obvious because i've never lost my temper at a shipper, and then forgot about the 53 foot azz i'm pulling behind me) And that 'support' was obviously not intended as anything but sarcasm.

I could have sworn you regaled us with stories of how you blew up at shippers.

Hannity, again, you only see what you want to see. I will admit i believe i've told stories about how a shipper may have been rude or what not. But you must not have read very carefully where i said, "...BUT forgot about the 53' azz i was pulling..."

Does the Swift lease program include a 12v fan and bowl of ice cubes in place of a good APU for the summer ?

The three guys i've talked to all said they get miles and are happy... One guy was from the Evansville IN terminal and the other two from the Terminal in Mt. Sidney which is right off of 81 before you get to Exit 235 on I 81 going north bound you can see it from the highway..

VPI i doubt if your interested but they have a terminal in Charlotte, I know you pull out of South Boston so i don't know if your in the Piedmont in NC or In Virginia..
Many thanks. I'm actually about 100 miles from Mt. Sidney and a fair distance from Charlotte (Salem, VA, to be precise), so that is a little far if I wanted local stuff. However, for regional, it might be worth a shot.
However, if you wanna go to Werner and do DG dedicated, I can furnish phone numbers for them... and I can provide training, too (Yes, even experienced drivers go out with a trainer for 5 trips on DG).
    Keep us posted.

I dont know how many are like that, but i know they are out there. HOWEVER on the other side of the coin, they do have some with leather interior and leather steering wheel (why i dont know....) I was at the Gary terminal month or so ago, and a guy who got a L/P was trying to swing deals with them. He wanted a certian type of 5th wheel on the truck, and they were always trying to talk him into this one truck with 'other' items he didnt care for, such as the leather.

i am sure most of not all T-2ks dont have fridges in them, but have the spot for them.....anything i put into the truck that isnt permenant is coming back out when i do.

Most if not all lease trucks i've ever seen on Swift property have always had a sliding 5th wheel. I dont know what this guy wanted to put on his truck, but aparently wanted a different type of 5th wheel....doubt it was a stationary one though.....(yeah i know....someone will now say "well ******, there are only two types of 5th wheels.....fixed and sliding"...)

The Swift Lease Arranger was probably not willing to shell out the extra expense of putting a different fifth wheel on the truck. To remove a Fontaine and throw on a Holland / Jost would run about $3,500. If he wanted a fifth wheel with a riser, then you could add $700 to that figure.

As far as I know they still make fixed fifth wheels but I rarely see them. At one time some of the large fleets would order their trucks with a fixed fifth wheel.

We have 65 trucks in the fleet and only 3 have sliding fifth wheels and those are the heavy haul tractors. Even the brand new trucks have fixed fifth wheels.

I prefer a sliding fifth wheel on my trucks, mainly due to changing trailers. I sometimes need to slide it all the way back for my step deck. If a fifth wheel is properly placed on the frame it is rare that you would need to worry about moving it. For most drivers you can correct your weight by simply moving your trailer tandems. A fixed fifth wheel is probably quite a bit cheaper than a slider. I have no idea what they sell for since I have not had the need to check. If you plan on leasing to one of the major carriers many of them require you to have a sliding fifth wheel on the tractor.
