Default Beer Delivery Driver's

Is there work basically the same as coke and pepsi? I'm willing to swallow my pride for a year or so and live life a little and especially coach football if i could get a bulk deal out of this down the road... what do you guys think??

i've actually considered doing just that. right now coca-cola in tempe, az has several openings for drivers. i put in an application yesterday, had an interview, and i hope i get the gig. it'll pay by the hour, get paid for everything done, and will include backing into some super messed up places like 7-11's, and other small ass places. bottom line is that i get paid for all the work done, home during the off time, and off two days of the week.

I think, they basically work like the other coke guys. Rotating stuff, and stocking, etc. I've even seem them hang up their advertising signs from the ceilings.
They put in a lot of hours. They are not under DOT Regulations. I guess that would be good in a way, but at the same time, they don't have to worry about running out of hours.
We have 2 delivery drivers that used to work for Bud. After working for Sysco, they said that it's easier. Not having to worry about rotating, and stocking everything, and being done around Noon. They said that when they worked at Bud, they put in about 15 hours every day.

Driver, i have worked for miller, pepsi, u.s. foods and sysco in charlotte.. I made more $$ at pepsi when it was driver sales, however when it went to presell i left.. more work for less money. U.S foods was ok but had to lay over alot. Sysco pays damn good if u can get the right route but you have to start at midnight or earlyer and they run the crap out of you(14hrs every shift 10 off and do it again) and are always looking over your shoulder about safety issues(putting out cones when backing, back braces) and will suspend you in a hurry, 3rd offence and your fired. I now haul gas and it pays pretty decent.. If you like your route and have senority u might want to stay..

Hawk,
PM me the names of the companies that you are looking at. We have a driver that use to live in VA and that is what he did there. He has always told me nothing but good things about the job.

I don't know about your area but coke, pepsi and beer are all about the same. I worked for coke here in Valdosta for about 10 months. I can say we were based out of Jax Fl and if your area is like mine you wont coach football. I filled in for the 2 bulk drivers when they were out and that sucks as well. Our pay was 120 a day plus o/t over 40. O/T was that chinesse b/s so in a 65 hr week I would make about 100 o/t, thats about all. I left the plant many days at 0530 with 1200 cases all alone. I would be still working at 8 pm. Football is the last thing on your mind. There where other reasons it sucked as well.

Talk to the drivers... I did and never met a happy one. After lugging beer aroung for 14 hours, home everynight is useless if you barely have time to sleep before the alarm goes off again .

I third these statements! Worked for Coca Cola in Jacksonville, FL briefly back in 1995. Typical work day for me was from 0500 to at least 1830-1900. Yep, home every day and on the weekend. And most of non-work time was spent trying to sleep, or rather catch up on it. And people think that OTR is slave labor!
