    Default New User Seeking Help

Im a new user and I have a Class A CDL but I'm having a hard time locating employment. I only have OTR with the military and I need advice on where should apply. Or what is a good company to go with or if I'm just S.O.L.

    Awaiting Any Advice

    Thanks,
    DemetriusUSMC

I had the same problem when I got out of the Air Force. Good luck finding any companies that will accept your experience. You will more than likely have to go out with a trainer before they will give you a truck on your own. Most companies told me that I needed to go to a truck driving school even though I already knew how to drive.

If you are in IL you may try to contact Risinger Bros. Transfer in Morton IL and they may give you a chance like they did for me.

You may also try Schneider, TMC or Maverick. I am pretty sure they all look at military experience as a good thing.

Good luck finding someone to take you on.
A job with a poor company and a little income is better than no job at all.

Talk with the Corp. They should have an up to date list of companies that are hiring military personell who have CDL's. There are several of the "Mega's" that have agreed to hire newly released military, and there are also several "Private Fleet" companies that have signed up with DOD to hire folks like you.

With the economy in the toilet, you just need to pull at all the string's you can get a handle on. Start with your process officer and go from there.

    Thank you for serving!

Did you try Schneider? They were just bragging about how they signed some kind of deal with the Dept. Of The Army. They have always said they are AARP amd military friendly. I ran for them and they are a good outfit to work for. I liked my time with them and they will treat you OK, I would check them out.

There is a company that pulls drive vans, and they only pull for the military / government. Well that was back in 1997, I see them on the road, but fot the life of me can not remember the name of the company. Talk to some on on the base, find out what truck companys deliver to the base and start with them. Just an Idea, you have the clearance to get onto bases aready that should help
