i'm sure all sorts of people read this site......DMs, TMs, drivers wifes, drivers husbands, or anyone else directly related to this industry. Do i think airline pilots read this site? waitresses at IHOP? no.
Of course we have airline pilots reading this site, one came here looking for a job not too long ago....

Um, I never said anyone was a stearing wheel holder, I just said to them that is all you are. And no my leaving swift had nothing to do with frivolousness reasons. And no I didn't pull $1500 a week out of my ass. That is about what it will be, give or take depending on how much fuel you used up, etc.

And to clarify things here, why do you give a rats ass what anyone thinks of swift? You take it like its a personal attack on you, well you aren't the center of the universe, you aren't swift, so what do you care what people think about swift as a company? I know damn good and well there are some really good drivers that drive for swift, but that doesn't mean swift isn't a crappy company, it is. As far as company lease plans go, they pretty much all suck, it isn't even a company specific thing!

You need to get off your horse, and listen to those more experienced then you if you ever plan to be as successful as possible. Sure you can go down whatever road you like, and find out for yourself, but why the hell would you do that when there are so many of us that have already gone down those roads and can tell you what road is better, and what road to avoid?

Now don't take this as a bashing on you, it isn't, I am straight up telling you how it is, and where you are wrong in your perceptions. Constructive criticism if headed, will help you, but if you take it as some sort of an attack on you then all you are doing is setting yourself up to find out the hard way, then you will sit back and be like, "I should of just listened"

As I sit looking all around,
Confusion and uncertainty is all I found.
    The answers are there,
But I do not know where.
    Optimistic and hopeful dreams,
Are all I have so it seems.
The future I do not know,
So all I can do is take it slow.
But I do know it will work out,
So I wait and watch without a doubt

They are a mega-carrier, their drivers are just #'s that can hold a steering wheel and don't mind hauling cheap freight, and they are not afraid to drop you like a sack of potatoes if they so choose. Swift is an OK starting point for someone who really wants to get their CDL and some experience, but no other method of doing so It is how I got mine. But it is not the sort of company you stick around with for years, sorry but it is the truth. Since last year they have literally let go of thousands and thousands of drivers. They don't have enough freight to keep everyone moving well right now. To even consider a company lease plan right now with the economy the way it is is completely absurd to begin with, and believe me swift don't mind or care to let you do it. At first they will give you all sorts of miles, so that you can give them a good chunk of change, but as that lease plan comes to term, the miles will drop. I know because I have talked to many a swift leasers. You will be stuck oweing $1500 a week and won't be able to afford it.

You complain saying that everyone is saying you don't like the answer, but it's the truth! If you are going to ask your more experienced peers a question, then shut up and recieve the answer without skeptisim and and a feeling of personal attack, because it's not, everyone is telling you the truth straight up. Everyone is getting abrasive with you because at everything anyone says no matter what it is you get your panties in a bunch. WHY ask the questions if you are going to get all defensive with the answers?!

Lighten up Kevin. You let things get to you too much.

and again, it is your opinion, not based on fact. whats that website you can go to that lists the company and safety record, freight hauled, etc.?

please list how you got your $1500 figure, then maybe i wont think its just some 'magic number', cause $1500 isnt waht i come up with. i'm currently running low 7s for mpg...so ill figure 6.5 to be safe.

and what?? i'm not the center of the universe??!!??!?! NOOOOOOooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But you know something, i'm probably one of few drivers who asks for a company advance every week for a truck wash. Not just my truck, but it goes for my car i drive when i'm home. I like the things i own or am responsible for look like crap. I work hard on my work ethic, to show my DM that i'm his 'go to' guy. I dont care about what they think, but its called having a little pride. Hence the reason when i first got my first truck, it was a dump, wasnt washed/cleaned anything. I wasnt out to make a good imperssion on my DM or anybody else, i just didnt want to drive around a dirty azz truck, so instead of waiting another day for them to clean it......i cleaned it. Instead of sitting around waiting for that 800 mile run, ill take that 100 mile run nobody wants. cause more than likely, my next run WILL BE that 800 mile load.

so when you start lumping me in with 'steering wheel holders', and newbs who have just come out of school, and hint that i'm not as good as the next guy (which maybe true....but maybe he isnt as good as me?, works both ways) and other drivers that just dont care......i take a great deal of offense to that. again, has nothing to do with what you think, it all comes down to having a little pride. And has nothing to do with the line of work we and i are in......when i was working in the casino or with the airline, i always did my best.
