    Default a little annoyed.....

I arrived at the ACME plant somewhere in texas about 0730. I can understand doing a trailer inspection, but come on....the dude insisted i hand over my keys, he then took them to the driver window 20 ft away where i 'checked-in'. Not only that, i had to hand over my cell phone (i took the battery out of it first), he had to inspect the inside of my truck....so many hoops i had to jump thru, i am almost upset he didnt fondle my sack for me.

Then had to pull around and check in again at another guard shack...lady there didnt seem to know what "good morning" ment. Then weigh my MT trailer, get word 20 min. later they were ready for me....so i pull around, bump the dock, and sit for 3 hours. I get the warning my battery was running low, and so i start my truck. I then get someone from inside to come out saying 'you cant have your truck running while they load you'. OH REALLY.....being how i am at the warehouse for "finsihed product", it must not be that 'finished' if it took 3 hours before starting to load me.

This load was to head to a railyard by 3p. seeing how it is noon, and i have 300+ miles to run....i'm pretty sure it wont make it.

why do some shippers out there just see the need to be C0CKS? Just do your job, and ill do mine. What seemed to get me....is that there is another Swift driver waiting along side me. but yet there have been about 5-6 other trucks who have come and gone. every one of them latino. Not saying there is any racisim going on, but this something that secretly goes on with certian shippers??

could be that there is probably favoritism going on. on the other hand, it could have been those trucks had freight on there that needed to be unloaded and probably loaded into your trailer, or the guy next to you.

a good reason not to have a t.v. in your truck is due to how quickly it drains the batteries. the only media outlet i have in here, is my laptop, internet connection, and various dvds including all the seasons of aqua teen hunger force, robot chicken, and the shield.

uhm, you could turn the truck off and take a nap..or read a book, better yet the swimsuit issue hit the stands yesterday!!!! or you could look into the mirror and see the ass staring back at you!!! i am sure all of these shippers and recievers that you tell how to do there job see it. hmm, i may just be thinking out loud here, but i wonder if that is why you waited so long to get loaded. ever heard the phrase, never bite the hand that feeds you? well, you are at there mercey sitting in that dock. unless you got the balls to leave without your load or without delivering your load, might i suggest keep your know it all pie hole shut. you may be surprised what NOT knowing everything might do for ya!!!

    Kevin...
Don't get your hair in a twit...
    Or scortch your underwear...

There are plenty more of them around the country. Maybe not exactly the same, but related. The truck not running is a safety issue with come companies. And, as to the attitude, just think about it... There are more "horses' *****es" than there are horses... You must ran up against a few of the extras. There are more. Give yourself time, and you will start to find them.

Yeah...hmmmm...yup. Kevins experience is exactly why I like dealing with things that are wet. If it can't fit in a round hole, it doesn't go behind my truck!

When asked to give my keys to shipping/receiving I always gave them the "special key" ,which was one of the 2 keys I still had on my key chain from a couple werner trucks I did not drive anymore ...I did this at those places that want your keys then tell you that you can't wait with your truck ,but take no liability for stolen items from the cab.

VERY VERY good idea. I am willing to bet the doornob wouldnt even notice the key he had said "KW" but yet you're driving a Volvo. HAHAHAHA

It does not even need to be a key for a truck ,as it's not like they check .

Ah, the only bad days I had at Swift.

Then again, with the small-outfit I recently left, it was the exact opposite at some places I dropped off/picked up from.
Larger carriers were allowed to breeze on through, I had to wait with my truck for special instructions.

ive delivered a few loads to refinerys or energy plants and had to go into a room and watch a ****n video on safety. 45 minute video to deleiver a tube i could just lift off the truck in 5 minutes. some things are just so silly its amusing. at my job when the forklift drivers are loading us, were not even allowed to sit in the truck. i guess someone pulled out of the dock when they were loading or something. and now no one can sit in there truck. you need to sit in a little room with 1 bench. kinda ****ty when there like 15 drivers at once, espically since they take all day loading 1 truck. but thats baltimore, and everything in baltimore is a dump. just today i was delivering to a home depot distrubiton center in swedesboro nj and a guy from another warehouse came out and started yelling out me that i cant park on the street in front of his warehouse. im like buddy theres 2 trucks ahead of me and 3 behind me. where do u expect us to go and why are you coming directly to me?.cursing and making threats to call the cops. i didnt move an inch. people just like to ***** and complain, makes them feel useful

First of all, I admit that I do not know the situation you were in, but...

You have heard that "Prudence is the better part of valor", haven't you? (and she's much better looking too.)
You are most likely not the first to raise his dander, and won't be the last. However, if there is a way that you can park on the side without interfering with access to his business, the reaction shouldn't be as harsh. I have heard of cops coming along and issueing tickets because of someone's phone call. They're not afraid to use 911 for this either. Sometimes, standing your ground may not be in anyone's best interests... Especially in NJ.

That's one of the reasons I run out into the "CIVILIZED WORLD". Out along the Mississippi and west from there. Much better class of people, for the most part.
