Default Pell Grant To Cover Truck Driving School?

I currently receive financial aid in the form of a federal grant at my junior college. Has anyone been able to use these grants to pay for truck driving school as some schools are expensive. $5000.

can anyone tell me what other financial aid I may get short of dealing with the school and a loan?

Only other one I could think of are state grants that are usually offered based upon GPA.

As much as I don't agree with financial aid for myself, I would say take advantage of all these and stay with it.

Unless the rules have changed, the truck driving courses are too short to qualify for Pell Grant coverage.

Depending on the state there may be state grants that are available to defray some of the costs, but not all of it.

The best way to find out is to talk with the department that is over the truck driving program. More than likely, Continuing Education, Workforce Education or something similar.

Expediting is different, but the same, but it's different. I'm so confused.

dle pretty much beat me to it.

The monetary reward for a Pell grant is based on the number of credit hours a person takes during a semester. While I do not know about your state or the community colleges in your area that offer CDL training those around me the credit hours are 0 since the course does not apply to a course of study but rather is direct vocational.

Your best source of information however would be the financial aid office at the school.

You can also check your state's employment office to see if there are any job training programs or grants available to you.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

If you are in Georgia the Pell Grant covers your tuition as long as you have been a Georgia citizen for the past year. The only thing you have to pay for is you D.O.T. physical. This is for most community colleges, the flip side is the training is for 10 weeks if you're fulltime and eighteen weeks if you're part time. The hours are 8 a.m. til 4:30 p.m 4 days a week. I know Georgia used to offer weekend classes, but I don't know if they still do.
