taking a cb in and out of a slip seat truck weekly

is it possible to be easy and not time consuming to take a cb in and out of a truck??

at the school i went to.. the cb was plugged into the cig lighter and it seemed as if all he had to do was unscrew the antenna cord from the back of the cb and pull it out?

Why not hard wire it in? If I'm not mistaken almost every newer radio uses the same power cord and should be interchangeable from radio to radio.

But what would I know I'm just an 18 year old know it all. (Using sarcasm with that statement)

yea, use alligator clips and get one of those antenna mounts that uses a vice grip clamp. 2 minutes and you're outta there

Are you trying to make your radio quick disconnect in and out of the same truck or a different truck everyday? Yes you can use alligator clips. You can use a cigarette lighter plug in but not with a high power radio. Most trucks have a power point on the dash with screw down clamps for bare wires. Or you could unplug the power cord from the back of the radio and leave the cord hooked up. As for antennaes does the truck already have one or do you have to supply it? Vice grip clamps work good on metal mirrors but not all trucks have them. You could use a magnet mount but not all trucks have a metal roof. It can be a challenge to get a good setup when its not your assigned truck and it needs to be portable. If its a different truck everyday that's even tougher. All kinds of grounding, noise, and swr problems. They can be corrected but its a hassle just for a day or two at a time.

it would be weekly.. i would have the truck for the whole week... i'll tell y'all what company it is down the line... but the trucks are Century Class Freightliners 05-07...if any of you guys know the setup with these trucks please share

Mine is an 06 Century and I can have the cb out in 30 seconds. It just has two spin terminals. Put the wire in and tighten them. One black one red. The newer Petes were the same way

Not knowing your exact situation.......
Another option....check with the driver you are slip seating with, maybe he has one in the truck already. Or, maybe you could agree to share one radio.
CB's are a dime a dozen!
