Default Portable Toilet in the Truck

Does any of you drivers out there use a portable toilet in your truck such as this one?

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5723590

How practical is it? Is it a hassle to fill the fresh water tank and empty the holding tank, and where do you do it? At truck stops?

On the passenger's seat or back in the sleeper area, I guess. The toilet's dimensions are 16.5"(D) x 14.5"(W) x 14.3"(H). In other words, just a little over one foot deep, wide, and high.

That model is a little large for a truck, IMO. I carry a small Thetford 135 Porta-Potti, you should be able to pick one up for about $75. Mine lives on the passenger side between the seat and the bunk, used for liquid and only in the most extreme emergency any other purpose. I have to empty it once every couple of weeks; the top comes off and you then carry only the bottom portion (holding tank) to a convenient dump -- public toilet, Porta-John, etc.

Carry a gallon of holding tank treatment with you and it will last several months. Used only for liquids, you will use very little flushing water, so the fresh water tank will last for a long, long time on one fill. If you use it as a regular toilet, your mileage will vary.

I wouldn't launch without one. However, if you make a mistake on the way to emptying out the holding tank, you can make one horrific mess. Only use the BACK handle to carry it. The front handle opens the unit, and you really don't want that.

Given the option of carrying a porta-potti or having to wander through poorly-lit truck stop parking lots in the middle of the night, or during rainstorms, or wearing Depends, I'll take the porta-potti.

99.9% of drivers will find that a set-up similar to Kay's will easily handle any needs that may arise in the middle of the night.

However, as always, there is always that .01% that will require special equipment.

Ladies and Gentleman, the Syncrosonix portable toilet! :P

I was thinking more about it being on the passenger seat. One hard bump, and you have poop all over your carpet. EW.

What's wrong with on the ground at the fuel island or right in front of the drive tires of the truck parked next to you? :P

Unsightly and smelly. Their fuel tank is much handier.

Walmart had another one which looked like an ottoman footrest and had two lids under the first one was toliet papet and the second lid acted like a seal for the nasty stuff, only about the size of a five gallon bucket.

all you had to do was put a garbage bag in it or kitty liter and you were all set.

Just imagine when you get out your kitty liter scoop the next day, people will think you have a lion in your truck.

open up a hefty bag, place it on the bed. hover over it, do you business . tie it off and put it in your jocky box until you can find a trash can

this of course is for clutch situations. i follow a philosophy when out on the road

NEVER pass up an opportunity to use a bathroom

    Thank You

Yes, I use that exact model-- the 135, it's short enough to push back under the bunk of a 379 Pete. My porta-Potti and my cell phone are the 2 most valuable tools-- that I can't believe I drove without for so many years--

I going to upgrade to a new 155 or larger soon. I think this one's gone a few too many miles. And ordering parts/seals is a real pain.

All Lady truckers should have one-- the whole dark parking lot-security issue & no ladies restroom at many loading docks-- make it a necessity.

But, for me--- not having to get dressed- and freeze your rear end off on those cold winter nights, parked way back in the back of the lot...is enough.

Yes, when I first got one-- I was concerned about the---- smell, etc--- But, was pleasantly suprised to find the liquid tank treatment-- works well.
And since it's only used for emergencies---- or excuses( i.e. setting on shoulder just before rest area(open- weigh station) to hurry and catch up the comic book. I.E. Officer! I just couldn't make it--- I had to go....Just a minute- you yell and wave your roll of toliet paper from behind the closed curtain while frantically catching up the log book)

I only dump mine at the RV clean outs--at rest areas. I wouldn't dream of carrying that than into a public restroom.
