    Default Papa Smurf

Last time I was in El Paso in summer of 2005, I was taken across into Mexico by a man called Papa Smurf , who had a shuttle service going across the border.

Any one knows if he is still around or anyone providing a similar service?

Between El Paso and Laredo, I'm more familiar with Laredo. There, if you park at the Pilot and turn on your CB, you'll hear at least one during the day, and one or more at night. I would expect it would not be much different in El Paso. Wait for them. They'll let you know they're there.

I was in El Paso several months ago and recall someone mentioning that Papa Smurf retired but his son has taken over the business. There is another guy down there as well. I don't recall his name, but he is always on the CB.

If you want to find someone to take you across the border you won't have to wait long. Just hang out at the Petro, Flying J or Loves. They are at the same exit. I believe there is a guy who has an office just behind the Petro who takes people across. These guys are on the radio all the time. You won't have a problem finding them.
