i've heard of that stretch of highway. at least the swift driver isn't the only one who had issues handling that piece of road. check out the other videos of drivers having a difficult time with it.
Trust me he actually did a dang fine job, I like the beginning where he was wiping out the pylons. There are plenty of pictures on the websitehttp://www.tailofthedragon.com/dragon_trucks.htmlof other trucks that got into more trouble.

i mistook your original post as sarcasm. i apologize. i'd never been on it before and i'm sure it's a matter of time. glad i saw this video. now i know what i'm in for when i do actually have to navigate that twisty mess. i thought the drive along us95 between lewiston, idaho and i-84 was bad. it's nothing compared to that!
I have to say he did a damn good job. I can see where some crazy BBR would be flying through that taking out all kinds of things, and that was a triaxle trailer if anyone else didn't notice!
Just posted new link to more pics, do your self favor guys do not use this road.Originally Posted by matcat

That looks a lot like the roads around here - US50, US33, US119, US19, US250, US220 - all soooooo much fun to drive - NOT!!!

What's even worse is that enforcers of the road (by that, I mean the North Carolina and Tennessee Hiway Patrols) are the absolute worst offenders when it comes to traffic violations on that road. I always see them speeding through there, riding the center line, or entirely in the opposing lane, etc., and they're not trying to get a 70 ft long vehicle through there.
Yeah I posted my opinion about WV on other forum, love that state beautiful, but I tell you what they should have done a TV show Coal bucket truckers instead of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS. Even though I have driven alot on the sideroads in WV and know my way around those guys driving dumps make me look like a newbeeOriginally Posted by Malaki86

I thought commerical trucks were banned from that dragon road?
I'll tell ya what - the local drivers around here scare the HELL out of me. They come around some of those turns with a full tri/quad axle truck loaded to the max like they were in a sports car.Originally Posted by ct77

nope, it is against Swift company policy though. Seriously check out the website.

Best of luck to them. It's not easy fighting against the "good ole' boy" system.Originally Posted by ct77
What makes you say it's against swift company policy? Certainly not driving that particular road. Unless you are talking about driving on the opposite side of the road, but in that case you don't have a choice.
Your right, I looked it over again, and paused it on one of the turns, looked like a triaxle but it was the ghosting of the video itself.Originally Posted by Mackman
he did do a nice job the two first things that arose in my mind were, 1. WTF is with the cones, and 2. Why the hell is that guy following so damn close, im almost surprised he didnt get pulled over.
that said, he technically was not breaking the law, as it is stated somewhere that you may take all the room you need to safely complete a maneuver
also that one black car that just about got run over...i say DUMBASS...MOVE it or lose it(ur ride lol) just fuggin sitting there...arent there any routes nearby that would bypass that?
There is a letter from Swift safety to the website from the director and he says that it is against their policy. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/news_swift.htmlOriginally Posted by matcat
