Bridging a trailer is going to be really rough to get around. No majors will hire you and most minors will probably pass, too. Best bet is too try to find some local mom and pop shop or an O/O that will be a little more willing to look past it. Good luck.

Take your six months of unemployment insurance and use that time to look for a driving job.

Getting back into the business after a preventable accident can be difficult. If you keep after it something will break for you. Just make sure you don't have any more accidents. :P

Why in the world would you pull into a city and look for a customer without directions in the first place?

Do you have a cell phone?

Yeah, it was a very dumb move and I am not at all surprised you can't get another job. Something like this is more than just 'a mistake'. Common sense is something you are either born with or you aren't. Doing something like this shows you didn't get it at birth, and you aren't going to learn it.

Do yourself and the general public a favor and go find another line of work.

Could not have said it any better.....

This industry does not need anymore drivers that lack basic common sense....

Bridging a trailer, rear ending another vehicle in the fog etc........

Just kidding! I don't really have any constructive help for the O.P. .... but then....

Oh, so you want to get nasty now, eh??

Okay, yeah.... not too hard to figure out. (CAN'T be, if YOU did! ) I am temporarily out of work. Due to high fuel costs, and unscrupulous brokers skimming the FSC's, my company is one of approx 75% of all "smaller" companies in NC alone that have, or will, close their doors this year. So what?

Is that MY fault? As you might tell from my "wusses" thread, I am taking a little time off to decide what segment of the industry I'd like to pursue for the NEXT 3 years or so. So what?

I can afford it. Also, I could have been in another truck the very next day, had I wanted to just keep doing what I'd been doing. I'm just not sure I DO.... right now.

I have more than the 2 years accident and ticket free experience needed to get a job fairly quickly I'm sure. I'm just taking this opportunity to make some decisions about what matters most to me right now.

Sure, I should have done it while my company was still alive.... but, I was kinda busy!

You got a JOB for me, Big D???

I started to stop by and inquire with a local O/O that I see all the time on my way to work..... but, the name on his doors says.... MORONIC Trucking!

Hey..... that wouldn't be YOU, would it??

I'm not worried about getting a job! But, SOME of what the "Wussy" drivers have said over the last year or so HAS rung a bell or two with me. I never really WAS "true OTR" but I do like the road! Just don't know what my next adventure should be!

After all.... it's a Lifestyle ya know!! It's what I MAKE of it!

People learn from mistakes and gain exerience.

In my state, all unmarked overpasses must be at least 13' 6" of clearance. Was the overpass marked? How high is your truck?

The one good thing is you'll never make this mistake again. You'll look for the height warning every time.

If companies want six months accident free driving, then find any job where you drive even if it's delivering pizzas. Time will pass and the accident will fade into history. You weren't drunk or on drugs, you didn't kill or hurt anyone. I think the accident will be less of an obsitcale as time passes.
