    Default Brake Check!!

i had a close call today.
I was bobtailing from a trailer drop.
i was following a co worker, he was pulling a RGN
i had a good distance between him and i, so i thought.
suddenly traffic stopped fast. i used control braking to stop the truck but i knew it wasnt going to be enough. so, i checked my passenger side for an escape route and luckily, i had one.
i ended up about 6 feet past the rear wheels of the trailer in front of me.
Bobtails dont stop well. im lucky i reacted quickly and had an out.
    wheww!
The Green Grass on the other side, still needs to be mowed

Bobtail is the worst braking situation. Kinda funny thinking a fully loaded combo rig is the best braking available.

I love bobtailing in 3-4 inches of snow......not!

Last winter I was bobtailing north on I-5 and exited at Reed Ave in Sac. I steadily applied the brakes and tried to control the truck... It was raining and the ramp is downhill.... Let's just say I slid through the light and ended up not getting anyone or myself hurt. No one was there. Thank god. I learned my lesson, it could of been nasty!

On my first job we had to BT to San Diego from Pomona, in the rain. The boss told us "BE VERY CAREFUL AND DON'T TAILGATE" about a hundred times before we left...
Bad weather gets bad drivers off the road...one way or another!

    Bobtails are treacherous machines...
