Be careful, that light at the end of the tunnel could be a train.
They take some getting used to, But is'nt hard, save's alot of wear and tear on your left leg & ankle,Nice also in traffic back-ups. Hope that help's some 8)
Well thanks alot for the info, I can recall, sitting in the cross bronx, on many occasions wishing I had a auto.

Ya been there done that & it is a Significant help, my Co has been getting 7.5 or so MPG due to use of this transmission. The main thing is with me anyway was you kinda have to have 1 foot on the brake & on foot on the Go peddle when backing, kinda like Power braking,In a way. Not to hard to get used to through. 8) :idea:Smart Like Einstein Rich Like Donald Trump
They do take some getting used to but after about an hour you ask yourself "why the heck haven't I been driving one of these the whole time?"
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.
Drove one a bunch of years ago at Roehl.
Need the clutch to start and stop.
Still, I like to shift on my own.
My three favorite things about Pilot Truck Stops are; coffee, cups and lids.
Automatic = POS.
If you can't shift it smoothly, you shouldn't be driving it.
Ya - a company like USX with 10,000+ trucks doesn't believe in running trucks that can stay out of the shop...

Friend of mine works @ Fedex. He says the only thing he doesn't like is that they take off so slow it's hard to get across busy intersections. I've never had 1. Right now 3X9's,3X 10's, and 1 good ole 5 speed Mack.
I've driven 4 different trucks with auto's and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The only one I wasn't keen on was the "clutchless" one. Gimme a truck with an auto-shift and a clutch pedal and I'm a happy camper.

I do think I shift faster than an auto, especially clinbing hills.
Currently I have a 13 speed and really like that I can split gears.
On flat roads, the auto would be my pick too.

Well I start mon, and thanks for all the input, that's why I like this board, can always depend on honest answers, good or bad, (Knowledge is power, power is knowledge)., I'll let everybody know how I make out.

gawd i love them, i have a torn rotator cup on right shoulder and 13 speed was killing me. auto matic has allowed me to keep driving until i can afford the surgery. now i ain't ever gonna go back![]()
just do it !!!!the shortest distance between two points is under construction.
If you ever have to spend time in a traffic jam (I think you guys call them gridlocks) then you’ll love an auto otherwise it’s up and down on the clutch all day. Drives you mad if you live in or around London which is permanently jammed…
Incidentally, in England all cars are manual (stick shift) and all Lorries and vans (trucks). Only high end luxury cars are auto like a Rolls or a Bentley. However, in recent years lots of mid range cars like BMW and Audi are selling loads more auto and they are now options on our big Trucks (like a Renault Magnum). The reason why people are switching to autos? Traffic congestion…
Why are you laughing..? I'm not laughing...
Not to mention better fuel mileage and less that a new driver can mess up.
My last truck was an '01 Volvo 770. We haul in/out of West Virginia with an average load of 45k in the trailer. Over a years time, the average fuel mileage for that truck was 6.5mpg. My current truck is an '05 Volvo 670 with a straight 10spd. So far since I've gotten it, my mileage average is about 5.5mpg.

You're used to auto's pretty quickly and they are so much easier. Ours doesn't have the 'to-get-going' clutch; it's a 100% automatic and we love it.
Check out my MySpace page or my hubby's (kj4aqt.org) - the last one has hundreds of pics which I took going down the road. Enjoy!!
Ya - I drove for USX a few years back and loved their trucks. My last truck at my new job was also a former USX Volvo. Wish I hadn't given it up...

go with the flow..........or just don't go nuff said
And at first I thought we were talking about pistols, darn.
but seriously driven over 300,000 miles on autos clutch and no clutch. The only beef i have is when it gets slick or delivering at a jobsite and the ground gets soft then the full auto is a disadvantage because if you dont watch it and get tomuch wheelspin it will dig itself in. Mechanically better than some of the manuals i have had.
OURS IS NOT TO WONDER WHY
OURS IS BUT TO DO OR DIE.
