I was wondering which company or companies have the dollar tree account in California. Having an account where I could unload the truck myself is something I'm considering. Thanks! Steve

In the Portland, OR area Schneider has the Dollar Tree acct.
Steve ~ there are a lot of co's in our area that are looking for drivers who want to unload the trucks. Quite a few jobs on craigslist that are local in fact..
Hi Alice! You are really becoming a huge benefit to me with your knowledge! I have seen those jobs, but, they want some experience first. I thought if I could get on with a major company and learn the ropes of the trade first. Then I could see what my options are after the first year.
Enroll in a good school like Western, they will help you get a local job.. Many of the beverage co's hire new drivers as well in our area. Heck, I hired a guy straight out of school to drive my transfer truck when I had my baby, I guess my point is sometimes it may seem like the odds are against you, but if you want it bad enough you can usually find a way to get yourself there.Originally Posted by SteveInDixon

Love your attitude! Well, I just contacted Western today to sign up for weekend classes beginning in September. I'm sure when I'm in school I'll probably change my mind about what I want to do several times! Thanks Alice! You're too cool! Steve
Maybe I'll come in and visit a weekend class sometime, although I normally see the weekday classes..Originally Posted by SteveInDixon

Lumping freight is for junkies and stewbums. Especially those McMega carrier "dollar" type acounts - nothing but ballbusters.Originally Posted by SteveInDixon
As a driver, your job is to safely and professionally get the load to its destination. Once there, you check-in, give em' your bills, then kick back in the sleeper for some much-needed R&R. Let the tow-motor or lumper service do the heavy lifting.
CDL = Commercial Drivers License. Not Casual Day Lumper.
