Default I'm back on the road... FINALLY!!!

Local just wasn't for me and I didn't gain anything from being home everyday. I'd rather be out here in a real truck, racking up the miles and dealing with everything that everbody hates so much about OTR. I researched companies for almost a year. I wanted to drive for KLLM, Marten, Dynamic and Watkinds sheppard. At the last minute I changed my mind and applied to CFI/Conway truckload and was accepted.

I just finished my first day of orientation in Phoenix,AZ and so far so good! I will be having a blog again just like I did at gordon except this time, the address in www.truckerchris.blogspot.com . Be sure to check out my write up from today and bookmark to check out the all the photos and stories I will have up in the coming weeks.

Congrats on the new gig...looking forward to the pics/stories.

How long have you been gone from Bettendorf? I was curious if they have slowed down like the costruction industry has. Not really looking for another job, just trying to keep my options open, cuz if things don't pick up soon i might not have a choice.

kona and ICS have you checked out the CFI site ... it's 98% CFI drivers ... they help out the new drivers and very good at answering any questions you may have about the company... very friendly group. It was started by an CFI employee that goes by the name 'Croc' ... enjoy !

I left them less than a month ago and they were running hard although it depends, it goes in waves. The only problem with hiring on with bettendorf is that you work nights either 4, 5 or 6pm to 4, 5 or 6am. I actually really enjoyed working nights more than I thought and all my co- workers were awesome but the money was not there. You work your butt off for 12hrs a night, sleep days and don't make :dung:

Running out of Sacramento, CA and you can't find a better local gig than Bettendork? No wonder your g/f left you. Have fun playing pocket-pool in the sleeper.

Conway truckload is a joke. Running LTL freight for coolie-carrier money...yeah that Clinton-era .35 cpm wage is heavy tunes in Cali when Chef Boyardee goes for over a buck a can.

    Congrats Kona..

I read your blog when you were with Gordon, shortly after I left them, and OTR driving alltogether. I dont envy you, but Im glad you're doing what you love. While Im as far away from driving as I can get (and loving it)... just dont speed through my state, or you'll get to see what Im doing NOW... The only contact I have with trucks now, is searching, weighing, and ticketing. I cut most drivers a break though, since I was one once.. I know the ***** you deal with... I'll write the guy who cut you off, before I write you for tailgating.

    Again, congrats!!

edit: oops.. guess its time to change the avatar... lol. Havent posted here in a while.

phoenix is easy, its the best layed out city in the nation. streets, avenues and named byways.

central is center, east of central is streets, west of central is avenues. named byways run east/west avenues run north/south and streets run north/south. I-17 runs north south, i-10 runs east west.

I agree with Rokk, although Phoenix is a pretty large city with all it's suburbs, it's a pretty easy city to get to know. I been here for less than a month and can already find at least half a dozen Wally Worlds around here!!!
I'll gladly pay u tuesday for a hamburger today.
