Default Can someone help me out? RE:Pilot/Escort vehicles

Can someone help me find a link to rules/laws involving pilot/escort vehicles? I am from NH and I have a load that requires an escort to take from NH to northern Maine. And my company says that another truck w/ a 40' flatbed w/ a standard load is OK for an escort. I dont think so but Id like to see something in writing to show them

NH rules for oversized vehicles pg. 30 no mention of maximum size, just minimum size.

maine rules scroll down to section 4.3 #2. once again minimum size is stated, nothing on maximum.

good luck! how oversized is it?

[edit] maybe you should look into the placarding issues. if i remember right, the escort vehicle has to be placarded with oversize signs. seems incongruent to me to placard a normal sized load. [/edit]

Its 80ft, the biggest question I have is can another class A vehicle be used as a pilot vehicle for the oversized load.

we have 2 loads to deliver, 1 being the oversized and another a standard 40' flatbed load. Can the other truck be the pilot vehicle or do we need a separate vehicle?

Call the NH, and Maine state DOT offices and ask them directly.
