So I'm sitting in Allentown, PA, in a hotel. Been in one three nights this week. Naturally, timing of things got a bit screwed up, which I'm guessing I need to get at least a bit used to. Did my drug screen (although for the first time in months I didn't have to go when I got up, it was a few hours later). Got the company physical. If someone tells you you have high bp, tell them to use a real cuff, not the electronic/automatic junk. I'm on meds for BP and the rent-a-quack showed 140/93 with the automatic, 100/68 (almost too low) on the manual. Whatever.
Did the road test yesterday. Same shift pattern as the school trucks. Came back pretty quick. Wasn't floating gears yet, but got into double clutching quickly. Don't forget the splitter when downshifting![]()
The terminal was kinda busy, so I didn't bother getting exact details, but I think my trainer was getting into the area late tonight (well, after terminal staff went home) so I'm going out in the AM. Hopefully. We'll see.
So one more night in bed, one more night with TV, then thrown to the tender mercies of OTR. I got a verizon wireless card, but I'm not sure if I'll be anything other than ready for sleep for the first few days. I'll try to get on tomorrow and see if the trainer minds me posting his truck number. If anyone from Crete (or wherever) wants to let me know their's, it'd be cool (PM if you want).
