Default Bottles of urine on the road side

I drove to Alabama yesterday for business and I noticed several plastic water/Gatorade/juie bottles on the side of the road partially filled with a liquid that looked like urine. Excuse my new-ness to the forum....but isn't that wrong...on many levels? Why do some drivers pee in a bottle and then toss it out the window? Isn't that what rest areas and truck stops are for? Do they pee in a bottle while the truck is in motion or do they pulloff on the shoulder and do it. Either way that is disgusting. How about the state workers that have to pick those things up :x

Sorry for posting such a gross topic but this is part of the reason - IMHO - why the general public thinks all truckers are stupid, filthly pigs! I can't see a true professional doing such a thing.

    Thanks for letting me vent

What would happen if you carried a pot-a-potty in your truck? That way the waste would be in a "toilet" rather then a water bottle. Would that get you in trouble with DOT?

I sure like to see the regulation that says "If your caught (dot) with urine in your truck w/o hazmat its a nice fine."

I do agree with the original poster however.

There are laws in many states that makes it illegal to dispose of human waste on public roadways.

"Why do some drivers pee in a bottle and then toss it out the window? Isn't that what rest areas and truck stops are for?"

I know why they pee in a bottle. I don't know why they toss it out the window.

Don't assume it's just truck drivers. I've seen people toss pee bottles, beer cans, bottles, and other trash from moving CARS and I'll bet most of us have seen that happen. In--Alabama, come to think of it: a car with a bumper sticker: "What would Jesus do?" He wouldn't toss a soiled diaper out the window.

"How about the state workers that have to pick those things up" Yes, that IS a health concern for them. That's one reason for Oregon's law on this very topic.

"why the general public thinks all truckers are stupid, filthly pigs!"

The "general public's" view of truck drivers has been around as long as there have been truck drivers.

I can't understand how some drivers are so lazy to do so. But then again some of these same drivers aren't the sharpest tool in the shed. I don't use a pee bottle. Pure laziness. If I have to go, I stop and go inside a restroom.

The reason any driver does a peejug is pure and simple laziness. Whether they throw it out the window or put it in a garbage can, the only reason would be because they cant manage their time enough to count for stops where they can piss.

Now some might point at the pressure from trucking companies that push their drivers, but once again, that is the fault of the driver for taking the job in the first place.

If I was a cop and caught some pig pulling that nonsense, I'd make him/her drink the contents.

the best thing to do is pee in a mountain dew bottle, then when you go to a customer you dont like, offer him a nice cold soda

There is a time for a "pee bottle" or "waste bag". Example, road shut down stuck in the middle of nowhere, at a customer and they refuse to let you use their facilities, or any other situation that you cannot hold it till u get to a facility for such. You just dont go and throw them out on the sid of the road or in a garbage barrel. sometimes there is a actual need for one but if u have to dispose of it properly.

I agree, but some posters think it is laziness, well I guess they will have to hold it in until they bust.

A couple years ago, I actually had a customer tell me I could not use the facilities. "They are for employees only." was the response. I left the area where I was, walked around to the main entrance and asked to recptionist for the phone book. I called the city health department, told them where I was at, the issue, and gave them an estimated number of truck drivers that are at that particular facility daily.
The receptionist over heard what I was saying   ,and got a manager out there to talk with me. She wasn't happy at all, when I told her in a regular voice, not a whisper, that I needed to take a crap, :x :x and her employee refused me access to a facility, that most city and state health regulations require be provided. 8)

I'm not sitting anyplace for 2 or 3 hours, waiting to unload, then be told to "hold it" till I find a truckstop.

Yeah, but make sure it is a hot day and chilled first, so they will open it and drink it right away.

I use Gateraide bottles. Mountain Dew is not big enough...LOL, I don't know about anyone else, but I go 2 to 4 times a night, I'm not getting dressed, walking through a blizzard, getting eyed over by a Good-Buddy and then back through the snow and track all that snow back into my cab, just to go pee. I did that when I lived on a farm (except for the Good-Buddies) and had to use the out-house. I'm all set with that. Also, most of my stops are first come, first served, so I need to get there in the middle of the night and park in their lot. No porta-potties, and the place is closed, I'm not waiting for them to open. I don't throw it on the road, I flush it where it belongs. I hate the truck stops with the smell of pee around every trash barrel, it really sucks. If I can't find a proper place to flush it, I find someplace off the beaten path, not on pavement, where you'd go pee anyhow, and dump it there. But I try to be very selective if I must do that, I wouldn't want people peeing all over my driveway! And I do NOT stop on the side of the highway to pee. I hate to see trucks in the breakdown lane with the drive peeing over the guardrail. It's dangerous and illegal, and there has been many accidents because of it.

Here's another reason to use a bottle, not all truckstops and rest areas are clean:
