You may be better off asking your question at expeditersonline.com

    BOL
If you can't explain to a 5 year old what you're doing, than you don't know what you're doing.

If you want to go with a straight truck then expedited is about the only way to go. You will need one with a sleeper. Landstar/Gemini, Tri-State, Panther, FedEx are a few. I don't know their hiring requirements. Some people have converted a tractor to an expediter truck.

Another company to look at might be Con-Way Now. They run teams of straight trucks hauling expedited freight. Don't know how many runs they have, and they are 48 state, don't know if you want 48, regional or local. Good luck.

A truck can become a very small space with another person, even when you are married. Some can deal well with the closeness, others can't.

My wife and I were great friends. Working together... a 25,000 square feet warehouse wasn't big enough!

"He knew who I was, at that time, because I had a reputation as a writer. I knew he was part of the Bush dynasty. But he was nothing, he offered nothing, and he promised nothing. He had no humor. He was insignificant in every way and consequently I didn't pay much attention to him. But when he passed out in my bathtub, then I noticed him. I'd been in another room, talking to the bright people. I had to have him taken away." -on meeting George W Bush at Thompson's Super Bowl party in Houston in 1974
