Default Consignees that DETAIN drivers--Places to watch out for.

Man, been against this dock since 2am this morning...and the light is still RED
(12:44pm afternoon). Thought I'd start a thread--place where drivers can warn other drivers of dangerous(money losing) pits like this. And do a little---venting at the same time.

    Walgreens- Perrysburg, Oh----10.75hrs and counting

You would think carriers would have database with that info. But then again, think comes into play.

well..you can bet I'll think twice next time i see a load offer that says-

    Perrysburg, Oh

oh well, I got here right at the 14th hour mark--had to take a 10hr break anyway.....maybe I'll see that detention pay. I sent the macro off. Got the PO---but you know--I haven't found a single consignee that would ever sign their "John Hancock" to that form! And if present it to them before they're finished--they slow down even more(IMHO).

Bunch of BS if you have to have the warehouse sign a form for you to get your detention pay.

Would not surprise me if your company has been billing them since the 2nd hour since you arrived or whenever you actual appointment time was.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Find out the dock foreman's name. If they won't sign, just write it in on the line.

No, I'll just be honest about it all, and present it to them(make them aware there might be a claim) and if they refuse to sign-----I'll just sign "REFUSED TO SIGN" at the bottom like always.---

but, yeah, I hear ya...often wonder if the company sometimes collects- but
    doesn't share.

Doesn't happen very often- we do mostly drop&hook-
And I did need a 10hr break to be legal anyway.

I was once stuck at IBP in Dakota City, NE for 36 hours because production had to be haulted due to somebody slicing their finger off.
You can take the driver out of the truck but you cant take the truck out of the driver.

I love being delayed at the companies, after the first two hours I get $30.00 an hour or $7.50 every 15 min.

Last week I was delayed for 9 hours minus the first two free hours. I made $210.00 for sleeping and going into their breakroom and hooking up my laptop and surfing the net.

    Gotta love it.

Yep, I could care less if I get delayed: traffic, breakdowns, grocery warehouses, weather, etc...it's all the same to me. That's why I'm paid hourly and won't touch the mileage/percentage scams with a 10 no make that a 50-foot pole. Been there, done that. No thanks!!!

I noticed when hourly paid drivers hit the dock many times the receiving staff stops unloading the OTR truck sitting their that isn't going to cost them as much to have wait the extra time , and jump right on that hourly paid drivers load .

Sterilite Corp, Clinton, SC. Had a 23:30 appt, had me bump dock at 4am, didn't even get a red light until 11am, didn't get a green light until 1pm. There wasn't a worker in there including office staff over 25 years old, all the guys and gals where busy flirting and not working, and people leaning on fork lifts just cutting up with jokes.

Thanks...we can add that to the list too,

and don't you just love the fact: you're suppose to remain calm, cool, collected the whole time--Professional. Meanwhile, in the back of your mind-
you know this weeks paycheck gonna be a day short--about 200.00 b4 taxes
    that's all! (maybe you'll get $40.00 dollars detention...then again...maybe not)

You did get to sleep a good 10hrs while there didn't you?
