    Default looking for work

I am going to be getting my CDL on the 18th. And was wondering what my options are, I checked into swift and they said they are not doing any training classes till Jan 5th at the earliest. Any info or leads would be appreciated. And thank you

1ST Off---welcome to the board, I see this is your first post.

congrads on getting your CDL on the 18th( this month??)

It would be helpful for us to know Where you live--to steer you toward companies that (in our collective experience) can get you home for hometime( if that is at all important to you)

Also, do you know what kind of driving you want to do? OTR, regional, etc?
What type of "pulling" you want to do? dry box, reefer, flatbed, tanker, etc?

Might as well, take this time up to after Jan 3rd- to figure out--WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE. Go home and enjoy the holidays. There's almost no one gonna start a training class right before the holidays-when everyone wants to be HOME for family time.

Yes I am from the central Illinois area and looking to do flatbed or van work. Also OTR would be prefered.

Just so you know, if you hire on with a company now and go out with a trainer there is a fairly good chance you may not be home for Christmas. There are quite a few companies that actually will not hire students in December for this very reason.

I don't know where you got your schooling at but if it was through a PTDI course you might want to talk to Crete.

Other companies to talk to would be Gordon, Hogan, KLLM, Transport America, Maverick, TMC, Arrow (last 3 are flatbed).
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

    hey, UTURN2001???

been meaning to ask you---from your avatar pic--can I correctly infer you're
    a STAR TREK fan??

if so; why not come check out my friends little community site for trek fans
    called 'universal star trek' at

    www.jeanway.proboards43.com

yes, this is just another shameless plug, stumping for a friend.

the site is 80% everthing else totally unrelated to star trek---but there is some star trek there.....kinda diversified.( maybe I should pitch that to her as a possible name change) deversified star trek....hmmmmm.
