    Default NEWBIE/ROOKIE NEEDS HELP!!!!!!

I'm a newbie/rookie driver that graduated from school 9/2/07 and I will begin my orientation with a regional company 11/27/07. Hoping and praying that I'm not too rusty.

I was wondering if I would have to take a road test during orientation and what skills or just driving in general, might be required from me?

If by any chance I'm a little rusty or nervous will or should the company take these things into consideration.

What things might they expect from a driver who is practically 3 months freshly out of school.

Depending what company it is they may only ask you to fog a mirror.

Road tests vary from company to company. They can run from simply driving around the block a couple of times to also having to go through something similar to what you did for your skills test, or in a few cases something a lot tougher than that.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Also depends on what you will be pulling.I drive flatbed and the road test is usually basically around the block. Most of the time dryvans and reefers will require you to back alot like your skills test. You passed one road test already, don't sweat this one.I drove for one company for a short while, they didn't even have a road test. That should have sent up a red flag right then.Good luck.

The road test I went on was about 30 miles. They also had me do some backing which was exactly same as my CDL skills test. They also want to see you couple/uncouple tractor and trailer.

They will probably be more lenient with you than the CDL examiners. They should understand that you will be a bit rusty and your trainer will help you.
