Default Who on here LOVES their job?

I know some people regret ever getting into truckdriving, but I think (HOPE) that they're a loud minority vs. a silent majority of people who enjoy truckdriving, be it long haul or local.

Who all likes their job as truckdrivers and who do you work for, etc?

I myself just drive a street sweeper around town; doesn't really count as trucking.

    I DO!!!
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

I have ran into nurses, seceratarys, toolmakers, doctors, machinists, ironworkers, accountants, flight attendants, construction workers and shelf stockers in retail stores who regret getting into thier career field.

The "loud minority vs silent majority" who enjoy thier line of work can be applied to ALL career fields.

I dont like it, nor do I love it. Its just a job. Driving for a living is something that I've done all my life so I'm used to the grind.
Everything I need to know about driving a truck I learned from watching "DUEL"

I'd rather not have to work but if I do then I really like what I have. (I never could use the "L" word)

I still enjoy it. Unless you like this business you won't stick around for very long.

Are you asking if we like our job or our profession?

Unfortunately I was born poor and have to work. I'm 52 years old and this I like this job better than any others. No one breathing down my neck, watching my every move, telling me I did something wrong, different every day, get to see a lot of beautiful scenery, no big time pressure to get things done in a hurry.

If I have to work, this is the profession I love!!
REMEMBER, guns don't kill! It's the jealous husband that comes home early!

In 1973 I drove one of my Dads trucks (KW cabover) for about ayear hauling cattle all over Califorina. A little over two years ago started driving again. I enjoy everyday and for the frist time in years can say I love my job.

I drive a truck because I am anti-social and I tell people like it is. I wouldn't last 5 seconds in an office. I like my job.

Don't forget fueling, scaling, PM's, safety meetings, dropping/hooking trailers, sweeping trailers, washouts, inspections, stuck in traffic, docktime, waiting in line, wating for loads, breakdowns, paperwork, etc.

Way too many freebies in that end of the biz.

Actually.... I get paid for just about everything... 8) except the PTI and fueling.... so thats why I love my job. In this particular case....love is like a real heavy dose of "like", and it beats the devil out of the others I've had in this industry.

CFM....you're right though, and the lack of pay for all of those functions for most drivers is a real travesty....and I mean that.

Sometimes I love trucking and sometimes I hate it.It's just an odd feeling sometimes. When I was OTR I really enjoyed talking to the old timers out there when wed be waiting to get loaded/unloaded.There was also a time I was at this petro in georgia, about 20 miles north of florida on the 95,It actually had a small lake in the back of the petro with whooping cranes merely feet from the truck parking! When you run across beautiful isolated things like these,it kind of eases the stress and takes your mind off the four wheeler that cut you off earlier,or the shipper that just got done detaining you 5hours.

I'm 42 and have done a lot of jobs in my working life. I've been driving for right at a year now and I truly love my job. I don't do OTR and get paid by the hour so I actually get paid for everything I do.

I don't say that to gloat or anything, I'm sure there's some stuff I deal with that and OTR driver wouldn't want to mess with. I guess we all have our crosses to bear.

I'm looking at other options in the future but wherever I go, I'll be driving trucks the rest of my working life.

The only regrets I have about trucking is I didnt get into trucking till i was 26. Its something that I have wanted to do since I was like 5 years old to follow in the footsteps of my grandfather. ya theres times i wish i was home every day but more times than not just the thought of going back to work in a factory is terrible. When I get ready to come off the road, I would like to get into either recruiting, safety manager or dispatch but stay a part of the industry. 8)

Not going to say that I love my job, but I do enjoy what I do. I like the part of the industry that I work for.

after 30 years of management, and always having a desire to be a truck driver, i am pretty new at this

i cant think of any job i could have that i would LOVE

but i do enjoy my job of being an over the road truck driver

i wish i made a bit more money, able to get home a bit more, and didnt have to deal with the nonsense within this industry

but the driving from one side of the country to the other, that part of the job i really really like
