    Default turning a reefer

this might seem like a stupid question, but that never stoped me before.
if you jack a reefer just short of 90 degrees will the reefer unit come into contact with the fairing? if so witch one is likly to receive the worst damage? can the contact be avoided by sliding my fith wheel all the way back?

It depends where your fifth wheel is set, whether your trailer has a 36" or 42" king pin, and what your wheelbase on your tractor is.

Most likely yes, and the most damage would be the side extenders.

If you are not sure GOAL, Get Out And Look.

    Good Luck

On trucks I have driven when I pulled a reefer though there was not much chance of hitting the reefer unit with the cab or fairings unless the 5th wheel was slid all the way forward. This was simply because of how the reefer is set on a trailer. You would end up hitting the side of the trailer with the fairings first.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Don't know, never had the reefer unit to hit. If it hits you have the fithwheel to close to the cab. I've tap the side of the trailer but never the reefer unit it self.

I would have to agree with Uturn2001 on this. I've never come anywhere near hitting it, even when jacking more than 90 degrees.
