Nah for a basic no headaches radio get one of the two, both are solid and rugged.
You dont want weatherband on it- You do want SWR calibration, ant warning/high SWR warning light and get a better mic for it like a RK56 or Astatic
Both are good radios. I would get the Cobra, myself. I've always used the Cobra, and I have had good luck with them. As I stated, both are good radios.
I have a Uniden 78 and a Roadking 56 mic. Both are good inexpensive radios. Just be sure to replace the stock mic with a Roadking or Astatic. The stock mics are junk.

Always remember, the most important know on a CB is the On/Off, and its normally best left in the Off position. 8)

I have owned both brands. I bought a Uniden last year for less than a Cobra 29. It has more features for less money. From a quality standpoint, I don't think there is much difference between the two brands. I planned on buying the Cobra, but bought the Uniden because of the features and price.
I chose the cobra always had good luck with them dad has been driving for 25 years and only uses cobra of course he rarely uses it anyway. I have a 29 it works great with a good mic I reccomend an astic mic but it is in the closet I am currently using a galaxy 959.
Ps I agree with skywalker on the OFF setting. My cb only gets turned on at shippers who require it and occasionaly at traffic jams and accidents.
i think the louder the better, and also try adjusting the echo to annoying. just my opinion.

I got the Uniden 78 Elite with weatherband. When I was shopping around for a radio, I was looking at both Cobra and Uniden. The weatherband was a must have, as trying to get weather when you wanted it on the AM/FM and even satillite was difficult. Now I just flip the switch over to WX and instant current and forcast conditions. Helps alot to have this feature available, especially in the winter months. You dont want weatherband on it
The radio has worked very well for me and its about 4yrs old now. Have had no problems with it.
