    Default Knife question for drivers

I recently talked to a fellow classmate who is heading to Larinburg,NC with Maverick on friday and he told me that are asking him to get a pair of steel toe boots/25' Tape Measure and a pocket knife..

I too am going Flatbed and i wanted to go ahead and buy myself a pocket knife...but i know their has to be a limit on size ...does anyone know of this rule or law and maybe what type would be a good buy...

I figured i might be able to help him out before he lives with this knife question

    thank

I have carried a stainless steel 3" "pocket knife" for years....never run into a question from anyone about it...even Canadian Customs people have had no objection to it. Its a folding knife.
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

I think 3.5 inches for the blade is the "norm" for most states but each state is different. Like what Skywalker said I doubt you would get hasseled with a 3 inch blade length. Most states have a ban on automatics and some have bans on gravity knives. Some have bans for this and some have bans for that, some have bans for this and that and the other, too bad there could not be universal knife laws where states could all be on the same page, that would work for alot of stuff. I carry a small pocket knife with me now, not even a two inch blade, and used to carry a fixed blade with a 2 1/4 inch blade that I could get to and use with my gloves on and could also pry some with it

I dont go to Canada, so I dont really worry about it.

Generally, most states allow you to carry no more than a 6 inch knive concealed on your person.

As with most laws lawmakers attempt to write laws that will benefit certain group(s). Then to get that law passed it gets modified my other lawmakers to meet what they think meets some other group(s). Do this a few times and you have a mess. Now compound this by 50 and look what a mess you really have.

In almost all situations, carrying a "reasonably" sized knife for the preformance of your job is allowed.

The thing to rememeber is, that if you are questioned about why you are carrying a knife, you should say it is for your job. Explain why you need it for your job.
It is not for defense or protection which would change it from a work tool to a weapon.

Ditto. Come to think of it I've never carried a knife, other than a work knife. My pistol requires I don't need to get up close and personal should I need to use it.
