    hello bouncer,
    i got a question 4 u...
I saw your profile in CFI webside which you are from NY.
Which state school you are going to?
i saw Central tech webside that their training price was 1500 for state, $3600 for out of state
    so
How much you going to pay?
Do u think that CFI is really good school for new drivers?
    thank you

1000 to Csntral tech 375 room and board 100 for the CDL.
26 cents per mile while your doing your training over $1950 pay for training not back for 3 or 4 weeks training. Then 28 cents for 3 months goes up from there.Plus quarterly bonus. Also CFI is the only company willing to help pay your schooling without a contract so if you decide 2 weeks after you start you don't like them you can quit without paying back the company for school.I looked at all the comanies and I think CFI was the best of the bunch.

as I told you. CFI recruiter Christine explained very vell
CFI dosent have school. They have agreement with 3 school. like Central Tech ,Crowder College and ASU Newport. their price more than 3k like christine says.

    i would like to post some1 else comment here;

there's no hidden secret here ... CFI will pay the portion they told you ... what you MUST do is graduate ... report to work ... go out with the Finisher for a period of time ... and once you are assigned Your own tractor and you pull out on your first run ... then they send a check to the school for the remaining part - - they agreed to. ... CFI has the best deal around ....

Now if you DON'T do these things ... finish school, completely orientation ( with no hidden DUI'S or accidents or high blood pressure , etc - trust me they will find out if a person is hiddening anything) and.. work with your Finisher and so on .... This is the only way they won't pay off your schooling ... Their an honest company for the most part.

At least my experience has been good with them. ..... When I went through orientation ... we started out with around 30 people there and by the end of the 3-4 day's .... more than half the people were asked to leave .... they either didn't tell the truth about their past, or health reasons ... Now those people were expected to finish paying off their schooling.

i guess, you are going to Central tech. When those candidates who successfuly finish the school.
Those drivers are going to start with them or CFI will choose randomly?

Schneider puts you through 2 weeks of school, then 2 weeks with a trainer. Then off you go with your own truck.

I went through Schneider in Dec of last year, spent 2 weeks with a trainer and as soon as the snow started falling in Jan...I was on my own.

Cfi will send you to either Central Tech, cowder both great school's or ASU.Once you pass the school and the 3 days of orination you will be Hired on with CFI and head out with a trainer for 7500 miles.

Call Chirstine Kost recruiter at CFI she will give you all the info you need.

I'll reply one more time then I'll keep my mouth shut. They industry avg is 6 weeks. You can believe that or not, I don't care. I just hope I don't read about you having an accident in the next six months or so. I have been driving for over 13 years and 3 weeks is not enough. Particularly with winter coming on. I am not slamming CFI's training in particular, I would slam any company who thinks 3 weeks is adequate. But I guess those of you who have been driving for all of 2 years or less think yourselves as something of an expert so who am I to argue? Done.
How long were you with a trainer 13 years ago when you were starting out?

    Default Tankyou, thank you.

Trucking companies, mostly OTR truckload carriers are in such competition they sucede by sheer volume. allot of trucks, allot of drivers. The way they operate leads to high turnover. Therefore they have allot of inexperienced people. Allot of accidents lead to higher insurance. Many company policies are actually requirements of insurer. It's a nightmare for everyone. The quality of training is the problem. These companys are training in a low incident environment. In other words; normal operations. I say take 'em to W.Va. for a week and let them criss cross the state a few times. Then take 'em to NYC or Philly and let them pedal with a 53 footer for a few days. Now THAT's training. Oh, one more thing. Take that two way radio and leave it at home for a year. It is full of BS and bad information. You don't need it. It is nothing more that a distraction. BUY maps. Learn how to read them.
Thankyou is right. You just have to concentrate. As for myself, three weeks of driving school. One month of casual pedaling out of union hiring hall in Baltimore. Hired by Anchor Motor Freight. One week of learning how to load cars on a car hauler. Six city blocks of road test. GONE. Off to delivering cars in West Va. Training under fire. First accident was three years later. That was due to my own ignorance by letting the dispatcher push me when I wasn't rested.
Of course that's just my opinion.
Do it right the first time.

very good point old rookie! I tend to agree with you on that. I don't personally think 7500 miles is enough for most people. It worked for me and several people I know but in general I don't think that most of the trainers at CFI are really training. Some do and I am sure Skywalker would be one of those when he was here. But most of the finishers I have met with the exception of my wifes are just in it for the extra pay and miles. I did not say all so don't get all bent out of shape and for some people you could get a lousy trainer and still be able to do this job. I am sure it is similar at most newbie companies.

Bouncer? are you recruiting for CFI now and haven't even driven a mile for them?

    Default So true.

Man, It's a real crime. The Carter administration deregulated trucking. I was in it a short time before that. Believe it or not, it was a really cool profession. People treated you with respect and awe. Yeah even dispatchers. No drug testing. Amphetamines were accepted practice. Well; thats what I was TOLD. I was straight as an arrow. Ahem. Mostly Ma Pa truck stops. You got to know the 'waitresses' by name. 'shinny 290's' that turned 2700. Even more with Vise Grips on the fuel pump return line. Screamin'! Run like a fool! Mexican overdrive! "Lock up yer booze and hide your women cause I'm comin' in for a landing on all 18. Yee hah!!! God it's a wonder I'm alive.
Sorry about that. Got carried away. Alas all good things come to an end. Time to deal with the present. Where were we. Oh yeah,.....training. I guess it's kind of like high school. It's up to the individual to strain out the right information. And as always; the cream will rise to the top.
Do it right the first time.
