The bunkhouse in Medway is basically that. There is a huge room with a number of block "cubicles" in them. Each of the cubicles has a bunk bed and a dual locker.

The shower area has individual showers with shower curtains that open to a common room. The showers sucked when I was there - low water pressure and sulphur smell.

There is a large common area with a couple of games, pool table and ping pong table. There are also 2 fair size rooms with tv's in them.

While it's not the Hilton, it's not all that bad. You'll only be there a couple of days.

What is it with multi-million dollar companies treating truck drivers like cattle? No wonder new people get soured by the whole deal.

I'm not sticking up for USX, but that place isn't that bad. I've been put in motels that were FAR worse than the bunkhouse. You're only going to be there for a couple of days, so what's the big deal? If you can't handle less than perfect living conditions for a couple of days what are you going to do when you're living in a space the size of a walk-in closet for weeks on end?

The way some people make it sound, you'd think you're gonna be there for months on end living in a army barracks, where you have no privacy, showers that are wide open with 50 guys standing around naked, etc etc etc.

Of course, if you want to spend the $$$ to stay in a motel, go for it.

I'm in the military. I know what all that's like. I guess I am trying to say that if a trucking company treated drivers like people instead of seat warmers, there would probably be a lot less turnover. It goes the other way too. Probably some drivers out there that aren't very honest as well.

We been full time RV'ers for going on 2 1/2 years now and I spend most my time in the back berth (my office) that is 7' x 7 1/2' where my computer and 19" LCD moniter is on a shelf front end of my single bed.
TV above that. Printer also on shelf.

I can't wait to get my own truck so I have my own office.

Now my youngest son just got a new Safari Motorhome with 4 slides. WOW you walk into that and you think you just went into a house.

Someday truck sleepers will have 2 slides.

I believe that it is the same terminal. In fact, the name of the road that the terminal is on is Victorys Safety Lane.

Same thing happened to me when I hired on there. Orientation was in Feb and there were guys in there sick. By the time I left 3 days later I was sick too. Shouldn't be bad this time of year, though.

That bunkhouse sounds just like George Mason Universities one dorm system. Thankfully I did not have the chance to stay in those but here is what I saw on visits to friends in them. It was basically a small double-wide/trailer park. You had 6-8 people in there with a small common area/living room and the kitchen was part of that area. The bedrooms were 2 to a room and they were half the size of a normal dorm room(15'x12'.) It was the same if not worse than being in jail with how small the rooms were.

Heh. But at least at the US Express bunkhouse you don't have to worry about being shanked in the yard or raped.

But you do at many truck stops I hear.
Them Yard Lizards are pretty tough and most truckers carry large sums of money they are after.
    Well not new student truckers.
