Default Points on CDL License question

If you have points on your regular vehicle license and you then get a CDL does the points transfer over to the CDL? For example I have a few speeding tickets {less than 3 yr old} and some companys have a limit of MV you can have in a time frame to be considered for employment. Thanks for your replys in advance!!

Yes. All your license does is change to a CDL and any record or points will go on your CDL. Also, while you have a CDL, any tickets in a private vehicle are treated as if you were driving a CMV.

How many tickets is a "few?" Also what were the speeds? Any accidents? This will be able to tell us what exactly your odds of getting hired are.

NO ACCIDENTS!! 42 in a 35 and 50 in a 35. How long do they look back for tickets? At what point do they come off your record? Both are a year or two old.

They look back 3-5 years. The first ticket is okay. That second, 15 over, is a serious one. But, you shouldn't have a problem getting on with any of the mega carriers such as CR England, Swift, Central Reefer, Schneider, etc.

So if you don't have any other issues, like DUI, reckless driving, no accidents and no criminal record, then you should be ok to drive.

No DUI No accidents Disorderly conduct was was 16 but other than that its ok. Can you go to your local DMV and obtain a copy of your driving record? If I fill out an application Im sure the companys are going to want the dates of tickets etc??

You should be able to buy a copy of your MVR at your local DMV or sheriff's office.
