Have you tried ABF. They have a school from what I understand that is six weeks long in Alabama or Arkansas that you must attend, but the pay is good after you get out and it is local.

I also hear they hire newbies as well. Check there website to see if I am correct though.

    Good Luck

Landing a LTL job this late in the season might be tough, but anything can happen. I know you don't sound like you really want to go OTR but thats where your going to gain your best experience this early in your driving career.

You can try dry bulk or aggreate dump trailer companies. Not sure what the pay will be, but in my experience dry bulk may require one or two nights out a week and aggregate is all out early in the morning and back that evening.

    Good luck with your search.

Look up APME (Arcadian Pacific Motor Express)
They used to be in West Sac, I hope they still are.
They deliver for Flaming to K Marts, etc.
They do mostly Oakland, San Jose, central valley.
If you don't mind getting up at 2am, or earlier.
When I get old, I move north and drive slow in the fast lane.

I work out of Lincoln and live in rocklin. I work for Bettendorf out of the lincoln sierra pacific yard. We have openings even though it's quite slow at the moment. I'd check out United Natural foods in Rocklin off of sunset. They are always hiring and start at 17.49hr

Congrats. From what I hear all in all ABF is a good place to work, and now that you have your foot in the door you will have a better chance at getting the type of job you really want once you gain a little seniority.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

holy crap what a great job.
I might have to move to a big city or something.
only way to get on with a teamster gig around here is for someone to die that has no next of kin to take his place.

Best of luck to you, great land.
