Default USA Truck to offer fleece purchase deal

Well I knew it was bound to happen someday. In a news release reported in our regional rag, USA Truck will soon offer a new lease purchase program to drivers employed by the company. According to the release, drivers who qualify can purchase tractors directly from USA Truck or an outside source by using a third-party financing partner.

Mike Weindel, company VP or human resources, recruiting and training said the new program will "Help them successfully transition from company drivers to small business operators. The company benefits by retaining elite drivers who might otherwise leave the company to become owner-operators elsewhere, and it affords us another avenue to grow our revenue with minimal capital deployed."

Now, which one should I chose?
The rundown International or the pile of junk Freightliner?
When I get old, I move north and drive slow in the fast lane.

Don't forget the fact that the Vaseline is pre-mixed with course sand. Just as a "Thank You".

Would you believe USA trucks DON'T even have tilt/telescoping steering wheels? No power windows, no power mirrors (not even heated mirrors), no aluminum wheels (I think the new ones may have them) but do have cruise control and a/c. Yep, they're cheapos. 8)

Notice how the News Release states how this will benefit the company, doesnt say anything about how it'll benefit the driver.

When you run a biz, growing revenue with minimal capital is a BIG plus.

I have been sitting in Tulsa all weekend. While here, I had the opportunity to talk with one of their trainers. He said that they pay about $1.12/mile including the fsc. Not enough if you expect to make any money. I believe he said that the payments run about $350 or 400/week. Of course, that doesn't include maintenance account, etc.,

USA Truck is ripe for the picking. Have heard off and on over the past few months that J.B. Hunt is interested in them. 8)
