Default Truck Driving School in Florida CLOSED DOWN

By now, most of you have heard about the truck driving school in Melbourne,Florida that was closed down.

Truck Driving Academy Closed by DHSMV

The Interstate Trucking Academy in Melbourne, Florida was shut down by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles due to improper testing procedures. According to the State Attorney's Office, criminal charges, including racketeering, may be brought against the owner, Joseph Neal Smith, 51.
Over 730 drivers were brought to a screeching hault due to the shutdown. All of the drivers of the school, which opened in November 2004, will be required to be retested by October 4, 2007 or their CDL licenses will be revoked.
This is an excellent example as to why you should completely investigate a driving school before you attend.
No doubt, these people paid good money for their training, and now are required to retake the test.

If they have had their license for over a year, the state is just asking for lawsuits if they make them retake the test. The state should have done a better job of over seeing who they let hand out CDL's.
    Lets go....

I am looking into getting my CDL also, but even though I live in a different state, some of these schools I believe are far over priced and some are just scams like the one in FL. Difficult to sort throught them all and try to make the correct decision before shelling out alot of money.
And the company offered schools, might be better, especially when the money is running low, but then you are tied to that company for 2 years to pay off the loan.
What began out as a fairly easy beginning is becoming more difficult to measure. It sure would be nice if everyone were just honest.

Never hurts to go into ripoffreport.com to see if the school you've considered has had a complaint or 2 made about them already.
