No sir, I can promise you that this everything I've said is the truth! I got the ticket for diregarding a traffic sign right here beside me. I did call the boss who advised me that due to him sending me out without a log, he would cover the ticket.... and have a PACK of logs sittin in my truck ready for my trip to Medina tomorrow morning.

You should have treated him like an executioner who just put away his axe and told you to get the hell off the chopping block before he changed his mind.

You probably only got lucky because you were genuinely so incredibly clueless that you couldn't appreciate how lucky you were. If the cop had sensed the slightest hint of guile, you'd have been OOS, with a whopper of a driving award for your trouble.

After hearing my entire story they ticket me for "disregarding traffic signs", a $150 fine! Then they tell me they cut me a lot of slack and to never leave without a log again!!! So, was this fair? What could have happened?
my boss told me if anyone got in my way. it was okay to run them over so that makes it legal.. right??

I was getting an inspection in Minnesota a few years ago and another that was getting an inspection driver didnt have a log book, the fine was $350.00 payable RIGHT THEN and 8 hours out of service. ( this was before the hos changed)

Yep...the DOT in Louisiana told me not to worry..."We'll let you make payments."

Arizona is like 118.00 for not being caught up or not having a log. Its been awhile since I did local, but I think that somewhere between 100-150 air mile radius dosen't need logging. Also, even if you are "local" and you cross a state line....pretty sure ya gotta have it.

Default fighting a log ticket for 150 is a waste of time

one you are gonna lose 2 days pay

    for me thats 420

just to save a 150 fine

    i would sue your employer

he lied to you and said you did not need a log book

he is more knowledgable of the industry then you

he is guilty of intention negligence

i would hit him for creation of a hostiile and unsafe work environment

which is a punitive damage civil suit

ie the aclu should assist you on contingency

unless he hands you that 150 within ten working days

a 6 figure puni damage lawsuit is worth a few days off

    in the city you live

fighting the dot is like fighting city hall

    its a waste of time

We BELIEVE you!!! And so did the DOT cops!!

You are a VERY lucky noobie!! It's good that your boss will pay the ticket.... it WAS his fault!

But, yes.... YOU should have known better! You WENT to CDL school right? Didn't they tell you that YOU are responsible for following ALL FMCSA rules and regulations?? Have you READ them??

I doubt that you "failed to follow a traffic sign.... or whatever..... but they HAD to write you for SOMETHING!! The City has bills to pay, too!

You could have been put OOS AND fined about 500 bucks or more for not "keeping an RODS."

Welcome to Trucking 101!!!! These people sometimes "play for keeps!" YOU are responsible for knowing the regulations you are working under, and following them. You probably won't EVER get another break like this one!

Fines vary in different states, but logbook violations generally run in the 3-6 hundred dollar range!

If your boss hadn't told you to run without one, and wasn't a standup guy.... YOU'D be paying some BIG bucks for this mistake!

Yeah.... BEN was kidding! And Triple Digit Bob was just jealous that HE hadn't thought of such a funny thing!!

Go to the nearest truckstop and buy the little green book of the latest FMCSA regs. I KNOW it's thick.... but READ it!!! Also, go to their website FMCSA.COM and spend several HOURS reading everything you CAN about the regs!

You might also peruse the forum on Rules, REgs and DAC, oh my! on this website!

Didn't you post a thread on what you needed to take on your first trip? I guess we failed you by mentioning the little things like toilet paper, and forgetting to tell you that you needed......

    LOGBOOKS!!!
Remember... friends are few and far between.

    TRUCKIN' AIN'T FOR WUSSES!!!

Yes, this is the American way. dont bother to learn your job and then sue someone else when you get in trouble.
