    Default Vactions

Do you take your vaction each year or just take the pay?

I'll take the pay since a "vaction" sounds pretty painful.
Everything I need to know about driving a truck I learned from watching "DUEL"

I take the pay and vacation.
Now granted, I don't have one of those paid tourist, see the world from my office type jobs you read about in the recruiting rags. If I did, I would surely just take the pay, as doing a 34 in a nasty truck stop for free is a great vacation.

That is nasty..For free even worse. Anybody that ask me how much money I make OTR, I never say what I make annually, but by the hour. Its about 9-11 buc's per. Anyway I take my vacations at home.

Time is money in the real world, but not in trucking.

No, Evinrude, unfortunately many think it is part of the lifestyle. And our friendly recruiters never seem to want to mention all the free time donated when searching for new chumps, err, drivers. They would rather sell them on the paid tourist thing.

    Vacation? What's that?

I took one last December, and that was the week that I got married. First, and only vacation that I've taken in the 4 and a half years that I've been here at SYSCO.

I take vacation days, but not because I want to. It's because I have to burn one every so often when they cancel my run, and I'm off.

There are a couple of guys that run linehaul with us that have been here ever since they invented trucks. Those guys take off all the time, because they have so much time built up. Other wise, they would lose it at their anniversary date. You can sell your vacation time back, but it pays the same. Just as well take off, if you are selling the time back.

    What are you talking about?
That is nothing compared to a nice buffet, a moonlit walk out to the truck in a pee stained parking lot, climbing in a truck, watching the lot lizards wandering around, then crawling in a box to sleep.

Pay and Vacation get 3 weeks off so I take one full week off split the second week and if I dont use any of the thrid week will take it in pay.

    Works good with that schedule.
I wish i was fishing instead of working

5 weeks of vacation. Can only take one paid. I usually take one week paid and 4 weeks off. Only two more years til I get 6 weeks off. Got to love being unionized.
