    Default what bank to use?

I am wondering what bank everyone would recommend using that will ease banking. I am currently in a Credit Union in Rochester, NY but staying out in Syracuse, NY for school as already presented somewhat of a banking nightmare. So my question is...What bank should I use?

With a laptop and internet access you can pretty much bank anywhere you please.

I'd stay away from Bank of America and Fifth Third. I've had nuttin' but problems from them

I changed to Bank of America from my credit union. There seems to be more BoA branches and ATM's in the trucking world than any other bank. They also have a thing called "Keep the Change" that deposits the difference of 1 to 99 cents (change) on any debit card use. It puts about $10 - 15 a month into my savings account.

I have had zero problems with them.

Flying J owns a bank called Transportation Alliance Bank. They are probably the most friendly bank for truckers. If you are paid with a Comcard or check or any of the other cards, you can move all of the funds to your TAB account with a phone call or on line in about 20 minutes. They can issue you a debit Mastercard which can be used anywhere and they also have ATM's at most Flying J's that have discounted fees for bank customers. I have accounts at other banks, but use TAB for most of my trucking transactions on the road. I can also transfer money from my TAB account to any other account over night for $2. There is no charge for moving money into the account. And they also pay interest on your balance.

Does your company have direct deposit? If so, (and if not) pick ANY bank you want that is national, with a debit/check card on any of several nationwide systems like Plus or cirrus, etc. There's an ATM machine or two in EVERY truckstop and bar in the country.

MOST banks you'll find along the way, won't have truck parking, anyway!

There's no "special" bank for Truckers!

I see NO reason for anyone getting into trucking to need to CHANGE banks. I don't understand why this question keeps coming up!

I DO see a possible problem if you bank at a credit union, but that is easily remedied. First, MOST of them are on the systems I mentioned, so your cash is easily accessible. Second, What the heck is so difficult about banking these days??

Besides, if you NEED money on the road, MOST companies will let you take an "advance" against your next check, to be received at ANY truckstop, with NO fee (if you get fuel.)

If your a member of a large FCU stay there, (we do have some small credit unions in Roch.) or just open an account at a large bank like HSBC and use the ATM card anywhere. Who are you hooked up with in Syracuse?
