    Default CDL location question

Hi all. I am planning on going to driving school in Oklahoma. I currently reside in Texas and have a driver's license from there. However, I plan to move to Tennessee when my schooling is complete. Should I go ahead and get a license in Tennessee before I go to school for my CDL? I'm still a little confused about how all this works.

I live about 60 miles from you.Wouldn't it be easier to attend school in Texas and then when you move to Tenneesse have your License switched over or just wait to attend school until you get to Tenneesee then you wouldn't have to switch anything. Either way good luck.

you can only get your license in the state you reside in.

Since you are planning on attending school out of state, what will happen is that you will be set up with a "residence" in the state the school is in and you will transfer your liscence to the state the school is in.

Once you complete the school and get the CDL you will then transfer the lisc back to the state you live in.

Assuming that you are still going to be attending a driving school in Oklahoma even after you move to TN all that waiting until after the move will accomplish is saving you one liscence transfer.

What I would do, assuming the school and move are going to take place really close to each other, is to go ahead and move, then if you attend school within 30 days of moving just give up your TX lisc to Oklahoma and then transfer it to TN after graduating.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

If you will call the school your attending ... they will be able to give you the answer to this question ... it will depend too if your planning on getting your hazmat or not ...

YOU COULD GO TO SCHOOL ANY WHERE AFTER SCHOOL YOU HAVE 90 DAYS TO CHANGE YOUR LICENSE TO YOUR STATE OF RESIDENT. AM FROM OKLAHOMA BUT WENT TO SCHOOL IN ARKANSAS AND ON MY LICENSE I HAVE 3 MONTH TO CHANGE IT TO OKLAHOMA. SO IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU GO TO SCHOOL AT BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS CHANGE. BOL
