Yes, you did the right thing. Those are the kinds of idiots that should be run off the road by an overweight piece of sh*t truck. In a situation like that, the owner is most likely going out, so he will run his men and trucks down to the bone to try and keep his head above water. Heavy loads- less trips, more money for load, as this is how scrap is paid. By the pound.

You did the right thing for sure. If you have a crash it is your behind in a sling for running overloaded.

I think your new boss even gave you some good advise, If you don't like it leave. Time to start the job search again!

you did the right thing :!: .. my brother drove for a company hauling scrap metal and he always ran nights and learned how to get past the scales ........ but he knew he would be the person with the ticket if he got caught and it would be on His record too ..... he's no longer working for them before that company also wouldn't get the equipment up in good working condition ..... You did the right thing .... Now you'll be able to find a company that will run legal

Ya, you did it right. Now if every driver just said no we wouldn’t have drivers coming to this forum blaming companies when something goes wrong. Keep sticking to your guns, you’re on the right path!!!

    Did the right thing.
But report the company to the DOT and the local highway patrol.

I think this is something we all agree on. Once at Werner, a shipper loaded the trailer wrong and we were over on one of our axles, it was a Friday and we ended up sitting at the Nashville TA the entire weekend because we wouldn't drive it. I would rather sit and lose money than get a ticket and let the state take my money.
