Default Maverick policy on taking truck home

Can anyone tell me mavericks policy on taking your truck home? I don't live anywhere near a terminal. My driveway is more than big enough for both tractor and trailer. There are truckstops near by, in fact my wife works at one. I would prefer to just take the truck home so I can keep an eye on it. BTW I leave for Little Rock this weekend. Thanks

I dont know why you couldn't take it home. I don't work for Maverick, but I assume that you do take the truck home on the weekends. Might call your recruiter, and ask him. He would know.

Yes, you can take the truck home.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Yes, you can take the truck home or truck and trailer in your case.

They will even let you drop the trailer and bobtail home providing you have a safe place to drop the trailer and are willing to buy a kingpin lock ($20-$30...can't remember exactly). They do want you to have the kingpin lock in hand (they want to see it) before they will authorize the drop location. You can purchase kingpin locks at the company store at the L.R. terminal. You can also get one at almost any truckstop.

I drive with Maverick now. The policy is follows:

You are routed closest to home as is possible for the purpose of being home with your truck and preferrably your trailer.

If you intend on dropping your trailer and driving no more than 10 miles to your house, you must give your Fleet Manager a signed form with exact loction of where the trailer sits, You must show your FM a kingpin lock.

You may not use the truck for running errands. Also, you may not go more than a total of 150 miles out of route to go home without permission. They allow up to 250 mi if you have been out for two weeks.

    Hope that helps clarifiy.

    and when you use it,
Probably not something that Maverick wants advertised on a public forum...and also something that I have never done and don't remember being told to do.

Yes, this is the company policy and as a newbie you don't know any better...neither did I. If it's on my trailer on Friday, it's headed for the house.
