Default Roehl and Pre Existing Medical Conditions question

Hi, trying to get some info on Roehl's Helath Care Benefits. Their own recruiters could not even tell me this question so going to ask here.

Does anyone know for a New CDL driver just out of school if Rohel's health care plan will cover pre exisiting conditions?

I am getting conflicting answers from people. Some say you have to wait a year, others tell me they do cover pre existing instantly once your benefits start in 90 days I think it is.

Anyone have any insight on this?

Here is the deal with most insurance plans. When you hire on you will be offered medical ins. and you will have limited time to enroll, lets say 30 days, but this will vary from company to company. If you enroll during the initial period there is usually no exclusions to coverage. But if you wait to enroll after the initial period there will be exclusions, plus you will have to meet certain conditions to even enroll outside of the initial enrollment or open enrollment periods.

Most plans only have one year waiting periods if you don't sign up during the initial enrollment period. This stops people from enrolling in the plan only when they need to be treated for something.

Bottom line: sign up for the insurance when you hire on and you will be covered.

I was hired by Roehl in June of last year. I received the benefits package in August after 90 days of employment as a CDL school graduate (its 30 days for experienced drivers) and had until October to enroll for benefits.

I dug out my old overview brochure, which summarized what their medical insurance covered:

    Emergency room services
Urgent Care (with your regular doctor)
    Ambulance serivces
    Durable medical equipment/prosthetics
    Hospice facility/home hospice
    Skilled nursing facility
    Physician office visits
    Routine and preventive services
    Vision exams
Well child check-ups till age 1
    Inpatient hospital services
    Outpatient surgery
    Outpatient therapy services
    Chiropractic services
    Home healthcare
Inpatient mental, nervous and substance abuse treatment
Outpatient mental, nervous and substance abuse treatment
    Transplants

So it would seem that indeed they will cover pre-existing conditions, because nowhere does it say that they disqualify you from coverage. Just be sure the condition or the medicine you take will not disqualify you from driving the truck and you should be covered.

I recently had to use Roehl's health insurance. Be careful as the insurance company likes to use "preexisting condition" as a means not to pay for care. If you have had insurance prior to taking Roehl's insurance and there was no laps between the two for coverage then make sure you get a letter from your previous health insurance company called crediable coverage. I had to do this in order for Roehl's insurance to cover some recent care. Otherwise they were going to hang it on a "preexisting condition."
