hes just a fustrated kid tht thinks, living in a shoe box ( with some strange trainer guy at first),, telling off every tom dick and harry he meets that might solve his problems....

givin the chance this kid, will actually know what the feelin of the world is outta get me means... oh ya and he will have 70 hrs a week he gets paid to think about it... and another 100 hours of sleeping and eating time to think the world is outta get him...

DAMN , no matter what if any1 sees him searching for companies call the companies and recommend they dont hire him, he will most defintaly kill some1, who is happy with thier life, and has stuff like family they care about.

P.S. he dont need a hospital, maybe some anti depressants, a dream or goal in life and a chance to speak to a pychocologist for a few hours.

Ok, I told myself, dont reply to this thread.....but hell I never listen to myself anyway.

Here's what I'm reading. This guy is 21 and has had everything handed to him by his parents. Now his parents want him to get his ass out of the house (Oh BTW, you do owe them and you owe them alot) but he has never had a job and he cant afford community college which is a royal steaming crock of manure. You go to your local community college and you seek financial aid. At the same time you meet with a counselor to decided the best course for education and a career.

I"m just wondering what this guy is going to do if or when he has to be stuck in a truck with a insane trainer for two weeks? What is he going to do if/when he is out there solo and he has to sit at a loading dock for 8 hours waiting to be loaded despite he was on time for an appt time.

Whats he going to if he has no load to pu/deliver? And he has sit awhile at some lousy truck stop all day, or has run out of hours and has to do a reset in some lousy town in below freezing temps.

And what is he going to do, based on the small insight into his mental stability, if some car cuts him off in traffic?

As a parent of three adults, I would give you this advise. Since you are in a hurry to get out of the house, you clearly need some moral boosting and self image enhancement, I suggest the U.S. Job Corps. There is one near enough to you and you can go to their website for info. You can train to be a Truck Driver, you will get housing, food, training, license and experience. When you leave you will be older, well trained, should be confident and desirable to employers if you have done a good job, had a good attitude, etc. It is probably one of the best options for one in your situation going barring the military.

Might consider enlisting in the Military. It would get you out of your home, away from your parents, allow you to develop marketable skills, open up other educational opportunities, and you would not have time to cry in your beer!!

Your attitude certainly needs adjusting, and they can help with that, too!!

Just wondering, can I be 20 and still get CDL training? Im a month from turning 21, but I cant really wait anymore. I dont have a job, all I do is sit around all day incredibly bored! I want to be out of my parents' house asap, I get stand this $&!+ any longer. Will truck company that hire 21 olds take me company training now and since its real soon I turn 21 Im sure the training could be done then, so I can drive. Actually, there's nothing wrong with staying with your parents at this age. I'm 19 and stay with my parents. If I can drive OTR, my only bills will be my food or internet bill (if I have one). With no house bill or anything like that, all that money will go straight to the bank. 8)

(There's a guy in our truckdriving class who is 24; also out of the Marines, and he still lives at home, and he's not ashamed of it one bit. And he's doing real good for himself too, so living with your parents is not neccesarily a bad thing.)

This is beyond sad; it is downright pathetic!!

I remember when the Siagon fell, and the Vietnam War ended back in 1975. The U.S. Government allowed many Vietnamese refugees to enter the U.S. Many people were of the belief that they would arrive and clog the Welfare offices.

Boy, were they ever wrong about that. For the most part, they went to work, often working long hours for little pay. Many of their children took to the classrooms, outperformed their American counterparts,and grew up to become highly educated, hard working professionals.

I don't know what country your family immigrated from, but as far as the "racisim" excuse is concerned, I would venture to say that they most likely came here, and brought you here in search of a better life.

I'm not saying that they were or are perfect parents, but apparently, they are providing you with shelter and food, and so far, you have repaid them by dropping out of college, and copping out of life.

One thing is abundantly clear: As much as you hate your parents, you do not hate them to the point of refusing to accept their food or their shelter!!

You need to seek out a good therapist; one who can help you find that "inner child" within you, and give both you, and your "inner child", the swift kick in the ass that both of you deserve.

Seriously; go talk to a military recruiter. There really IS help available, providing that you are willing to help yourself. If you are NOT willing to help yourself, and learn to sit on your own butt, instead of whinnig because the world that you are so mad at refuses to sit on your butt for you, then your are in no way a suitable candidate for a driving career.

Shell, the best thing you can do is get out and find a job and get back into college. It will do your self esteem a lot of good to start earning your own money. There are grants and loans for those who cannot afford to go to college. I would recommend going to work and saving the money to pay your way through school. If you want to learn how to drive a truck, you will need to either finance the training yourself or wait until you are older before most carriers will hire you. You can get the CDL at your age, but will find it difficult to do so without a truck. If you were older, there are some carriers who will train you as long as you agree to work for them for a specified amount of time, usually 1 year. The problem is that unless you stick with them you will be on the hook for the cost of your training. You have at least 2 years before most carriers will hire you due to insurance requirements. The problem you have right now is that you have too much time on your hands. Go find a job. If nothing else, you can to work at one of the fast food restaurants. Most of them pay fairly well for what you do. If nothing else, it will keep you busy until you decide what you want to do with your life. Right now, you have it pretty easy living at home. Perhaps some of the problems you are having at home is due to you not getting out and doing something with your life.

One thing is for certain; in the years that you have been sitting at home, the world has not come knocking at your door, trying to figure things out for you.

As G-Man so correctly pointed out, at 21 y/o, you are too young to be driving a big truck; irrespective of your age, you are FAR too dysfunctional and immature to be behind the wheel of a big truck, be it OTR, Intrastate, or local.

So, you want to LEARN to drive a big truck??? Get off of your ass and go talk to a military recruiter!!! They will train you, and you will have some solid experience under your belt by the time you get out!!! Who knows?? You certainly would not be the first dysfunctional person who grew up in a dysfunctional family, and then found a home!!

Translation: Every branch of The U.S. Military has dealt with your type before, many, many times; after all was said and done, many of those dysfunctional souls who were drowning in their own self pity grew to become excellent soldiers, gained some respect for themselves, earned the respect of others, and found a new path in life that actually worked for them!!!!

I got an early retirement from the military back in October. Got paid good money and was provided good benefits while there. GI Bill for education was one of the benefits. Also got to go to Japan once, Saudi Arabia once, and Germany twice. Along with some stateside locations like San Antonio. The military is a good gig to start with.

B/C, having worked in the oil patch, offshore drilling, and being that I am currently involved in the oil and gas industry, I truly do not believe that he would last long in the oilfields, much less offshore drilling. He would be a serious danger to himself, and to the other members of the drilling crews.

Based upon my experience, a drilling rig (especially offshore drilling) is a place where men go to work and make a decent living; it really is not a place for a boy who needs to grow up and become a man!! It is not a place for someone who can not or will not sit on his own bottom.

The nature of working on a drilling rig is dangerous. If you are not completely focused upon what you are doing, AND what your brothers on the drill site are doing, (and you'd dammed well better think of your co-workers as your brother) you can easily injure yourself, or someone else. I've seen many a Roughneck with broken fingers, or fingers missing, or injured in other ways, all because someone missed a cue or wasn't paying proper attention.

Would you want to rely on this kid for your own personal safety?? Of course, the same holds true for the trucking industry as well.

This kid needs to go stand in front of a mirror, and ask himself if he is going to remain a boy living in a man's body, or if he is going to pick himself up, and become the man that he should be.

I maintain that the U.S. Military is where he should be looking.
