Default a year experience, looking for companies

I'm finaly at a year experience and looking into the posability of other companies. I'd like to hear some input from some other drivers out there. I am looking for the following

good benifits (blue cross/blue shield, dental, perscription, etc)

most weekends or every other weekend home ( I know many promase but I belong to a company that doesn't deliver. I know most companies can't promase all but looking for a 90-95% track record)

when I'm on the road, will they keep me running. I don't like to sit around at a truckstop or terminal all day.

as I am a dryvan runner, dryvan and refer runs seem to be whay I'm after and I'd like to step the company down a little in size as well. Since I work for swift that shouldn't be to hard.

you can post to the thread or pm me, thx

Take a look at Murrow's Transfer www.murrows.com . They are a specialized furniture carrier that runs the east coast. One of my friends that lives in N.C drives for them and is very happy. Small company and they have you home every weekend unless you want to stay out. Good Luck.

If you have your "X" endorsement, here are a couple companies I would suggest.

    http://www.freeholdcartage.com/

    http://www.hytt.com/default.asp

    http://www.hazmatinc.com/

Check them out. You won't be home "every" weekend...but they try to get you there better than most.

Well if you dont mind working hard. A food service company is good as well. I just signed on to Sysco. I should start this week. Starts at 18 an hr. Benes, vacation, etc... Its teamster up here so you will have dues. But, Monday thru Friday home every night. You will work your tail off humping groceries.

If you look at food service companies stay away form US Food. They have major corporate problems right now.

Well hope that helps. Good Luck

I see you are in NC- therefore Wilson would be my suggestion if you can hire on with them. The will run you locally and after a min. of 2 mos. you will be qualified to go to line-haul or shuttle driver positions if available. Then its all gravy from there- home weekends, 401k, full med bc/bs and profit sharing. Wilson has lots of terminals in the Carolinas.

just wanted to say whats up I'm in Elizabeth City, start driving school in Spindale, NC Apr 2. Sysco posts most of their local jobs with the employment office in ecity dont know what they have posted though. I used to handle their account when I worked for the state. Just wanted to know how often does Swift get you back in PQ county? Since its off-topic you can hit in PM.

Those food-service type jobs are incredibly labor intensive. Sure you can make $18-21 an hour but you will certainly earn every penny. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just something to consider depending on one's age. You only have one back.

if i had to do it again after one year i would look into yelow, roadway, abf, ups, fed ex, etc. home about everyday and weekends plus great wages. some of them starting out will have to be a casual driver, but looking back at the trouble i had up till a year or two ago it would be worth the time to wait. just my opinion though.
