Default Hi from the new guy!

Hi everybody. Been lurking in the shadows here trying to learn a little bit. Boy am I learning. I,m fresh out of school with a shiny new CDL in my wallet and looking for that first place to work for. So far it looks like US Express is my best bet. Swift and Werner came to my school.NETTTS/NECC in Andover Mass. They sure make themselves sound good. My bro-in-law works for Swift (not happy)so I had a heads up there. Along with all you fine folks. Werner just didn,t sound appealing. I,m sure most of can guess the other companys that have been contacting me. I spent 25 yrs in commercial roofing so I,m use to being abused. I just want to learn how to do this right. Any advice you folks could give would be great. I,ve gots me lotso learnin to do! BTW I,m new to this computer thing too. This is my first post anywhere. Goodbye 70s! Hello 2007!

Sounds to me like you made a good choice for your first company after training..... I have a friend that works there also, and he likes it!

Drive safe, and enjoy your new career!

    Hey good luck man,

Listen US is not a bad first place to start. I have heard and seen drivers though who have worked for them and then go to another company and they cant shift the truck. Something to think about.

I am a retired Roehl driver. They treated me pretty decent and is a good starting company. Have you looked at TMC (flatbed) or Maverick (another flatbed).I dont know if you want to do that kind of work but if you are used to manual labor, which you are they might be good as well.

good luck on whoever you pick. I delivered out there in your neck of the woods a few times and will probably be out there more often with my new gig. ABF will hire new guys also but you have to go to their school in Arkansas for 6 weeks or something like that.

Thanks for the advice ibamars. I,ll check them out. Main thing for me is to get with someone decent and get in a truck before my schoolin gets fuzzy.Sooner I get started the sooner I can pay my dues and work where I want, not where I have to. I hope I don,t sound to arrogant or something. But that,s pretty much how I approach things. Find out what to do and do it. So glad I found this site. Lot of smart people here. Thanks again.
